It is in the heart of one of the most beautiful bays in the world that is the city of Roz sur Couesnon. A link between Mont-Saint-Michel (15 kilometres away) and Saint-Malo (40 kilometres away), this town enjoys a privileged geographical location, ideal for visiting two of France's most beautiful tourist destinations.
Even if the saying goes that "Le Couesnon dans sa folie, a mis le Mont en Normandie", the commune of Roz sur Couesnon is well situated in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, in Brittany. Roz sur Couesnon is the starting point for many walks towards Mont-Saint-Michel, the Emerald Coast and medieval towns such as Dinan or Dol de Bretagne. It is ideal for holidays under the sign of discovery, in places steeped in history.
Before leaving to explore the surroundings, start by visiting the small town of Roz sur Couesnon. Walking through its streets, you will notice the originality of its typical Breton buildings : these blue shuttered lanyards, made of slate roofs and light, massive and authentic stones, are very popular in the region. We advise you to stop at the Maison des Polders : this museum space will plunge you into the heart of the cultural, natural and landscape heritage of the bay. You will discover the history of the polders, these large expanses of grass and land that have been reclaimed from the sea, of which the Mont Saint Michel sector is full. After this visit, it is ideal to rent a bike to take the green road (also called the Duchess Anne dike), located not far from the museum : this road will take you to Mont-Saint-Michel, through the green marshes and salt marshes.
Coast sports activities, know that the region is crossed by many loops cyclotourists, called "Vélopromenades" : while passing by Saint-Malo, Cancale, the landscapes bocagers, the marshes, the valley of Couesnon and the coastal villages, you will discover the ornithological, geological and landscape richness of this bay unique in the world. Climb up the "balcony of the bay" (also called Massif de Saint-Broladre): this granite relief 10 minutes from the sea is one of the highest points in the surroundings. From its summit, awaits you an unparalleled panorama on "La Merveille". Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel is famous for its tides (the highest in Europe) and for its important biodiversity. A favourite place for many bird species, the salt meadows where sheep and lambs graze are among the largest in France. Also take the time to cross the bay on foot, with a guide (while paying attention to the quicksand !) : a unique experience, which will please young and old alike. The lucky ones can even be tempted by a ULM flight over the bay, a rare opportunity to admire Mont-Saint-Michel from the sky.
On the Emerald Coast, only 30 kilometres from Roz sur Couesnon, is the seaside resort of Cancale. A renowned fishing port, Cancale is appreciated for its gastronomy (its flat oysters) and its six beaches. The "Port Mer" is ideal for family relaxation breaks, as it has inflatable facilities for children and a nautical centre where you can learn about catamarans and windsurfing. After visiting the city and cracked on its fine sand, push a little further along the Cancal coast to the tip of Grouin : the ultimate limit before the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, this rocky spur exposed to the wind is the ideal place to admire a breathtaking panorama over Cap Fréhel, Granville, Mont and the Chausey islands. We advise you to observe a flamboyant sunset on the cut Breton coast : a magnificent spectacle.
Finally during this stay in Roz sur Couesnon, take the opportunity to taste the flavours of the local gastronomy : the lamb of pre-salted, the oysters, the omelette of Mother Poulard and the cider will certainly delight the gourmands.

The restaurant "Le Bretagne" in Le Vivier sur Mer is to be recommended. Good reception, very good menu, reasonable prices, very friendly staff. I will return there with pleasure if I have to be in the area.

To enjoy Breton cakes in a medieval setting, I recommend "La Table Ronde" in Dol-de-Bretagne and for seafood platters and other mussels "L'Escale des Bouchots" in Hirel, both top!
