With its oceanic coastline, its historic cities and its enchanting hinterland, the Loire-Atlantique offers you a holiday rich in experiences. In all seasons you can enjoy the mildness of its climate to recharge your batteries and make innumerable discoveries.
From Piriac-sur-Mer to Moutiers-en-Retz, Loire-Atlantique invites you to discover the diversity of its coastline. Enjoy first of all one of the most beautiful bays in the world, La Baule-Escoublac or the beaches of La Turballe and Saint-Brévin-les-Pins to practice many nautical activities. Then, relax in the small coves of the country of Retz and Pornic. Then, discover the Côte Sauvage between Le Pouliguen and Le Croisic and, on the way, visit the pretty village of Batz-sur-Mer. Finally, come to Guérande to explore the alleys of this splendid medieval city but also to appreciate the beauty of its salt marshes.
After these coastal escapades, take time to visit the great cities of Loire-Atlantique. In Nantes, discover the fabulous heritage which recalls the rich past of the city: the castle of the Dukes of Brittany, the cathedral of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul, the passage Pommeraye... Also wander the medieval quarter of Bouffay, , Royale and Commerce then head to the island of Nantes to marvel at its impressive machines and its giant elephant. Then come to Saint-Nazaire to appreciate its historical and industrial heritage : the dolmen of the Three Stones, the Escal'Atlantic, the shipyards, the submarine Espadon, the Ecomusée...
During your holidays, you can also take advantage of the many hiking trails and bike paths to enjoy the natural beauty of the Loire-Atlantique. On foot, walk along the paths of the nature park of Brière, go around the lake of Grand-Lieu or take the path of the Douaniers. By bike, join the towpath of the Canal from Nantes to Brest or along the Loire between Ancenis and its mouth. During these walks, make a few stops to visit the castles of Clisson, Ranrouët and Châteaubriant, the area of La Garenne Lemot or the pretty villages of Oudon, Prigny or Trentemoult. Make also gastronomic breaks to savor the flavors of the soil : seafood and fish, white butter, salt of Guérande, muscadet...

To do at all costs: the passage of the Gois at low tide and fishing on foot for those who like it. Visit the salt marshes. A nice day at Planète Sauvage to make children discover wild animals.

Plage St Michel Chef very mediocre (smells like rotten fish, cloudy green water and forced to wash the stuff because of the unpleasant stench). Otherwise, superb Pornic beaches (I recommend Porteau and Pormain: fantastic).
