A paradise for cyclists and nature lovers off mainland Brittany, Sauzon is a town in Morbihan situated on the magnificent Belle-Île-en-Mer. Along with Le Palais, Bangor and Locmaria, it is one of the 4 municipalities that make up the island. Fishing port and charming seaside resort, Sauzon is one of the "Most beautiful villages in France" thanks to its port, its pretty quiet streets dotted with white houses with pastel shutters adored by artists, and its large wild beaches.

With its changing landscapes at the mercy of the marshes, its superb lanes and its fine sandy beaches, Sauzon is the natural destination of Belle-Île-en-Mer. Second commune of the island, Sauzon is articulated around its fishing port and marina. Along its quay, facing the sea, are some typical houses of the island recognizable by their white facades and their pastel shutters which are reflected in the calm waters of the port, conferring to Sauzon a certain very relaxing softness. You will also have to go there at the very end of the day, when the quay comes to life and the terraces of cafés, crêperies and restaurants fill up. Picturesque and rich with many treasures, Sauzon is the ideal city for nature trips and family excursions. So put on your shoes and climb on your bikes ! The first thing to see during your stay is one of the most visited sites on the island : Pointe des Poulains. Located at the extreme northwest of the island, it offers to its lucky visitors majestic panoramas on the immensity of the ocean as far as the eye can see. Wild, rocky and isolated, it will allow you to observe on a clear day the island of Groix and the bay of Quiberon. If contemplating the Pointe des Poulains in clear weather is truly magnificent, in stormy weather, the scene is quite fascinating since the strong currents sometimes cause huge waves that collide with the rock. At the edge of the Pointe, the Phare des Poulains thrones majestically facing the sea : we advise you to visit it to enjoy its superb views. Just next door, a few pedal strokes away, is the former property of the tragic Sarah Bernhardt, consisting of a fort and two villas. These residences can be visited, they have since been transformed into museums dedicated to the life of Sarah Bernhardt. At the foot of the lighthouse, many beautiful coves lined with turquoise water will be perfect for quiet parentheses. Along the cliff-side coast is also one of Sauzon's most beautiful sites : the Apothicairerie cave. Forbidden access because very dangerous, you will have to observe it from afar, but its beauty deserves that we linger a few moments, if only to immortalize it. A little further towards the city centre are the Menhirs de Jean and Jeanne. Local pride, the legend around these two menhirs says that Jeanne, shepherdess, and Jean, son of a bard, loved and saw each other in secret despite the prohibition of their parents, so much so that the witches of the island transformed them both into stone. Let the romantic souls be reassured, the legend also says that a good fairy breaks the fate of these Romeo and Juliet Bretons the time of a full moon evening, so that their love triumphs through the centuries.

The coastal trail is one of Sauzon's most popular hiking trails : once used by the Coast Guard and fishermen, today it offers walkers some of the most beautiful views Sauzon has to offer. Beaches, heavenly coves, meadows, heather or cliffs, you will be surprised by the diversity of the landscapes of the commune. The hilly terrain of Belle-Île-en-Mer is crossed by numerous cycle routes through varied, changing and magnificent natural scenery. Suitable for all levels, for young and old, they will allow you to discover some of the most beautiful corners of the island and Sauzon. Don't panic if you don't own a bike, many brands offer daily or weekly bike rentals.

Finally on the sea side, Sauzon has some of the most beautiful beaches of Belle-Île-en-Mer. The wild coast to the southwest is particularly famous for the magnificent "Donnant beach" loved by surfers thanks to its large rollers. Bordered by colossal dunes and sunny throughout the day, it is the largest beach on Belle-Île and certainly one of the most popular. Many coves dot the Sauzon coastline, from "Kerlédan Creek", beloved by families, to "Port Poyed", "Bordery", "Ster Vraz" and "Port Puce". The latter is also very appreciated by water sports enthusiasts who come to canoe, kayak, paddle and sail. On the "Port-Belloc creek" side, it is the diving enthusiasts who hurry to discover the rich seabed of Sauzon, when the holidaymakers in search of paradise will plant their parasol on the "Porh Penhoet creek" to contemplate its breathtaking waters, its caves and its panorama among the most impressive of Belle-Île-en-Mer.
