Ideally located between Biarritz and Bayonne, Anglet is known worldwide for the quality of its surf spots. But the Basque resort has many other surprises in store for you thanks to its rich natural, cultural and gastronomic heritage.
Throughout the year, Anglet invites you to enjoy its fabulous natural space between forest and ocean. On the Atlantic side, you will have the choice because the resort has no less than eleven beaches. From the Chambre d'Amour to the Barre, you can choose your atmosphere according to your desires of the moment. Each of Anglet's beaches offers a different surf spot and allows everyone, beginner or experienced, to practice according to their level. The more experienced can join the Cavaliers beach famous for its tubular waves and the many international competitions it has hosted.
But the Angloy coast invites you to practice many other sports. So you can indulge in paddle, sea kayaking, sailing, jet-skiing... On the land side, do a little horseback riding, tennis, take an acrobatic course in the forest and why not try Basque pelota ? Lovers of smaller balls will be delighted by the presence of two golf courses whose courses offer the ocean as a horizon. Then go for a walk. On foot, take the coastal walk along the entire coast to the Adour estuary or discover the forests of Chiberta and Pignada. By bike, ride along the boulevard des plages and, in continuity, on the cycle path that leads to Bayonne.
During your walks, discover the beautiful villas of Anglet, the ecological park Izadia and the beautiful chapel of Notre-Dame du Refuge. Also meet local artisans who make chisteras, knives, wrought iron objects and musical instruments. Then make some escapades to Biarritz to see the Grande Plage, the Rocher de la Vierge, the casino... and to Bayonne to admire its half-timbered houses, its Château Vieux, its Vauban citadel and its majestic Sainte-Marie cathedral. Back in Anglet, settle down in a good restaurant to taste all the good local specialties : Bayonne ham, red tuna piperade, Biscayan cod, Basque chicken, axoa, sheep's cheese, Basque cake...
