In the heart of the Tarentaise Valley, in the Savoie department, Belle Plagne is a perched ski resort on the northeast slope of the Bear Valley. It is located above the resort of Plagne Bellecôte, at 2050 m altitude.
From the beginning, in the 80's, Belle Plagne was conceived as a pedestrian village. If the cars are banned from the city center, the station is nevertheless accessible by road and has two large underground car parks.
Shops and services are present in abundance and allow holidaymakers, once they have parked their car, to live independently. Two lifts, a chairlift and a ski lift allow access to the highest dwellings in the village. On the other hand, to reach the entire ski area, you will have to put on your skis and get off at Plagne Bellecôte, the nerve center of La Plagne.
Belle Plagne lies at the foot of the Bellecôte glacier hanging on the northern face of the Vanoise mountain range. Its north façade is relatively unapproachable, its southern slope is much more accessible and offers splendid views of the Peisey-Nancroix valley.
If this surprising natural site is ideal for learning to climb, mountain biking and hiking are undoubtedly part of the activities most practiced in the region. A new, upgradable Bike Park has even been built on the territory of the municipality. Accessible free of charge by the Bellecôte gondola lift, it is suitable for both beginners and experienced pilots.
If you are curious, you may be tempted by the via ferrata of the Bourtes. 600 m long, this route sails between the cliffs and the footbridges suspended above the void. If you are dizzy, it is better to refrain because, according to some, this unforgettable experience gives the impression of being a bird spreading its wings above the peaks.
