At the gateway to the Vanoise National Park, Bonneval-sur-Arc is one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France". Authentic and typically Savoyard, it is also the highest village in Maurienne. Connected to an alpine ski area stretching from 1800 to 3638 metres above sea level, Bonneval-sur-Arc is the ideal place for sports holidays, winter or summer.
Charming : this is the ideal word to define Bonneval-sur-Arc. Gathered around its church, the village deserves a visit. With its old stone houses covered with slate roofs, its wooden balconies, its small alleys and its superb landscapes, this resort is a destination of choice for mountain lovers. The highest village in the Maurienne valley at the border with Italy, this family village resort nestled at the foot of the magnificent Col de l'Iseran will allow you to reconnect with the authentic mountain, far from the ultra concrete ski resorts. With 25 kilometers of slopes and 1200 meters of altitude difference between 1800 and 3000 meters, the resort of Bonneval-sur-Arc offers grandiose spaces facing the Vanoise National Park, perfect for skiers eager for tranquility and beautiful descents. A high mountain domain on a human scale nestled in the heart of unspoilt nature, it is a remarkable skiing spot despite the few kilometres of slopes it contains. In all, you will have access to 5 green, 8 blue, 5 red and 2 black trails spread over three sectors : "Les Lacs", "Valonnet" and "Les 3000". Beginner skiers ? Visit the "Les Lacs" and "Valonnet" sectors to learn about the joys of sliding in complete tranquility. 3 green runs are perfect for families and beginners: the "Mésange" run (Pechaillet ski lift), the "Pierre Fendue" run (Pierre Fendue ski lift) and the "Corneille" run accessible via the Pré du Vas ski lift will certainly make you happy at the very bottom of the ski area. Once you have assimilated the basics of skiing, head for the blue slopes of the "Les Lacs" sector for its beautiful curves and pristine landscapes. Experienced skiers ? Heading for the "Les 3000" sector for its slopes intended rather for experienced skiers and its beautiful descents from the heights of the domain. Freeride enthusiasts will also find beautiful routes to take such as the path of the upper glacier of the Vallonnet, or the corridors of Andagne. When it comes to new slides, the resort is not to be outdone. Along the blue track "Bergeronnette", you will find a boardercross rather playful linking bumps and raised turns, and on the side of the blue track "Tétras Lyre", there is a snowpark for all levels. Snow being particularly abundant in Bonneval-sur-Arc, ski touring is therefore a very popular activity. In winter as in spring, it is one of the station's flagship activities. The immense virgin spaces of Iseran (2000 meters), Albaron (3637 meters) or Ouille du Midi (3042 meters) are very popular areas for ski tourers. However, if you prefer cross-country skiing, you should know that by following the river Arc for 3 kilometres via the "Sallanches-Fauvettes" piste, you can reach the Nordic domain of Bessans. Located on an immense plateau between the Azerole Valley and the sublime Charbonnel glacier, it is one of the most famous sites for Nordic skiing with no less than 133 kilometres of slopes. From the village of Bonneval, whether you like cross-country skiing, hiking or snowshoeing, you will also find a Nordic trail that will take you to the hamlet of l'Ecot, one of the most beautiful traditional villages in the valley, to discover absolutely.
Whatever your level, you will have to go to the highest peaks of the domain (via chairlift or ski lift) to contemplate some of the most beautiful mountain panoramas of the region: once on the roof of the resort, in front of you, unfolds all the magnificence of the mountain with in the background the Vanoise National Park, the Barre des Ecrins, the Aiguilles d'Arves, the Col de l'Iseran and Italy.
In order to satisfy young and old, ski lovers or not, Bonneval-sur-Arc has a wide choice of fun and sporting activities. Adventurers ? Head for the sumptuous Canyon de l'Echo, Tralenta or Saint Landry for an initiation to ice climbing. You can also try speedflying, speedring (a mixture of paragliding and skiing), tobogganing, ice skating, airboarding and snowscoot (BMX on snow).
During the summer, whether you are a great sportsman or a contemplative in the soul, hiking and mountain biking excursions will be in the spotlight. The "Refuge du Carro" hike along the Balcony Trail will allow you on one or two days to contemplate the beauty of the Albaron, Vallonnet and Evettes glaciers. The "Col des Fours" hike is ideal for the whole family to discover the unique world of the high mountains with magnificent panoramic views of the Haute Tarentaise and Haute Maurienne. Don't miss the gorges de la Reculaz and the cirque des Evettes, one of the most beautiful sites in the valley ! And if you are a thrill-seeker, know that you can go canyoning at l'Ecot, rafting, whitewater fishing or paragliding, a unique way to contemplate winter as summer all the peculiarities of the mountain.
