30 kilometres north of Draguignan and 15 minutes from Lake Sainte-Croix in the Verdon Natural Park, Aups, capital of the truffle and the Haut-Var, is one of those little nuggets well known to lovers of Provence. Considered as the southern gateway to the Gorges du Verdon, the town of Aups is a real little paradise for all lovers of green holidays and sporting activities, practised in large numbers in the area. Caressed by the inimitable light typical of Provence, the village of Aups is perched at an altitude of 505 metres, on the very first foothills of the Alps, halfway between the beaches and the snow-covered peaks, between the vineyards and the Verdon. In the heart of the olive trees that provide the virgin olive oil that flavours the delicious Provencal dishes served in its restaurants, the town has been renowned since the Middle Ages for its typical markets and its fairs organised under the high plane trees of the town hall square, unmissable events for those who wish to discover the local gastronomy. Olives, wines, honeys, but also saffron, goat's cheese and black truffles (the local jewel for which Aups is famous) will be on show! After having tasted and smelled these perfumes which smell good Provence, take time for a small stroll in the heart of the village. While strolling along its picturesque old streets, you will be able to appreciate the splendour of the town's architectural heritage: from ancient doors to medieval houses with elaborate lintels, not forgetting its fountains, its sundials and its squares with their Provencal charm, it is impossible not to succumb to such beauty. Both chic and relaxed, in Aups, discretion is cultivated and it is so much the better: no crowded streets, here, you can walk in peace! Some historical vestiges are to be discovered here, like its secular ramparts, the ruins of its fortified castle, or its gothic collegiate church. Built in 1499 by the canons of Valmoissine, the Saint-Pancrace collegiate church has a splendid Renaissance façade and an easily recognisable Provencal Gothic style. An art museum, it is worth a visit for the magnificence of its pieces, including the oldest processional cross in Provence, dating from the 14th century. The Porte des Aires, which pierces the 12th and 16th century ramparts, the Clock Tower, which towers 25 metres above the village, the Saracen Tower dating from 1670, the Chapel of Notre-Dame de la Délivrance and the Ursuline Convent will complete your visit.

Dynamic, Aups organizes events throughout the year, including many in summer: festivals and fairs, concerts, aperitifs, jazz festival and other celebrations gourmet will not fail to punctuate your stay.
