If you had to choose only one destination for a vacation in the sun, one and only one, it is likely that the Côte d'Azur is the one you want. Don't hesitate any longer and make a stopover in the city of Grimaud, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region. Perched in the heart of the Maures mountains, right on the edge of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the town of Grimaud is an ancient medieval city renowned for its gentle way of life. Between elegance and naturalness, refinement and tradition, this charming town has managed to keep its authenticity and picturesque character over the years, notably thanks to its pretty flowered streets, absolutely emblematic of Provence.
To discover Grimaud as it should be, you will have to leave your car aside and prefer to walk around. You will discover an absolutely charming town, dominated by its castle: we recommend you to take the small paved streets lined with art galleries and to climb up to the ruins of this 11th century monument. From the latter, you will be able to contemplate an exceptional panorama on the coast and the green massifs of the Maures, a marvelous postcard of the region which will not fail to fill with wonder the whole family. With a rich historical and cultural heritage, Grimaud has a dense religious heritage, including several chapels and a Romanesque church: the church of Saint-Michel dating from the 11th century was for a long time the most imposing in the whole region, and is worth a visit for its undeniable historical side.
Hikers will be able to discover the numerous footpaths that cross Grimaud and the surrounding villages. Our advice? After visiting the old town, take the Pont des Fées trail: this walking circuit is popular with hikers, nature lovers and lovers of the Provence landscape. By taking this loop, you will be able to grasp all the treasures of Grimaud and its surroundings, such as the Pont des Fées, nestled right in the Maures mountains. This ancient aqueduct that once brought water to the village of Grimaud is a must-see stop on this beautiful nature walk, a place particularly popular with walkers and photographers who never fail to visit it.
A few kilometers further down the village is the city of Port Grimaud, whose international reputation attracts thousands of visitors every year. With its beautiful colored houses and its numerous beaches, its small restaurants and its romantic creeks, this place is particularly charming and appreciated by vacationers and will undoubtedly make your heart capsize. Lovers of idleness will be able to relax on one of the magnificent beaches of the seaside resort and perfect their tan! The fine sandy beach of the Vieux-Moulin is ideal for enjoying a few moments of relaxation, with its turquoise water and its superb view of Saint-Tropez. With its picturesque bridge and small lighthouse, the Cigales beach is a pretty, quiet and shaded area, ideal for a quiet sunbath. You can also walk to the nearby beaches of Saint-Tropez and enjoy a coffee in front of its famous port, where many stars enjoy a drink on the terrace every year. But lovers of sensational activities will also be served: jet skiing, sailing, water skiing, motorboat rental, but also surfing on the beach of Beauvallon... You can bet that you will find something to take an adrenaline shot! Finally, you can also try horseback riding, play golf or tennis, and rent bicycles to ride along the Var coastline and enjoy all the charms of the French Riviera.
