Just one hour from the French border, Canyelles is one of the districts of the seaside resort of Rosas. Nestled in the heart of a bay to which the town has given its name, the Canyelles district will certainly satisfy lovers of idleness and sunshine.
Bathed in crystal clear water, the Canyelles district has an absolutely heavenly beach, on which you can bubble under the legendary Spanish in complete tranquility. Facing due south, this beach, sheltered from the tramontane at the extreme south of Cap de Creus, is adored by holidaymakers for its magnificent setting: it is bordered by superb cliffs on which some villas seem to hang on the hillsides, guaranteeing their happy owners unspoilable views over the blue sea. Located far from the city centre of Rosas, exactly three kilometres away, the beach of Canyelles and its district are accessible from Rosas via the walkway, which we recommend you take to capture some of the most beautiful panoramas that this quiet district has to offer. The long seafront promenade along the beach is also the perfect place to walk with family or friends, so it is not uncommon to see children on bicycles, skateboards or scooters. If you like water sports, then you will be delighted since Canyelles beach has several rental companies and water sports clubs, which will allow you to practice pedal boats, sailing, kayaking, water scooters, but also scuba diving thanks to the transparency of its absolutely magnificent waters. If you don't like water sports, you can always enjoy the fine golden sand of this magnificent beach for a well-deserved sunbathing.
For beautiful excursions, we advise you to go to the Puig-Rom mountain side, to discover its imposing viewpoint with a panoramic view of all Rosas and its bay. You can reach it by car, on foot or even better: via a little train that children will certainly love. Just next to the Rosas lighthouse, the Trinitat castle is also worth a look: housed on the edge of Cap de la Poncella, in the northern part of Rosas Bay, it was built during the 16th century under the reign of Charles V in order to protect the port of the town from invasions and attacks.
Finally, the Costa Brava is famous for its legendary cuisine, and Rosas and its Canyelles district are no exception to the rule. You will also be able to eat delicious churros, squid, patatas bravas, but also tapas, Empordà wines, suquet de peix, seafood and other fish that will delight the most gourmet stomachs!
