A real gem of Baroque architecture, the church of Sant Joan Baptista, built between 1735 and 1776, is a must see when you stay in the town. Its imposing facade and its 68-meter high Bell Tower towers majestically over the city center of Alcalà. Within the church itself, the Parish Museum is the repository of various forgotten eras, among which are the paintings of the altarpiece lost after the Civil War.
Continue your visit to the Castle of Xivert, grandiose witness of Spanish history. Built in the 11th century during the Muslim conquest, this ancient military fortress had an architectural influence both Arab and Christian. Recaptured by the Order of the Temple in 1234, it is assumed that it was in this place that the capitulation of the Muslim forces was signed. Abandoned since 1609, the location of the castle on a rocky hill splendidly shows its impressive ruins from which opens a magnificent panorama.
Hiking enthusiasts will surely go on excursions to the hermitage of Santa Lucia. Nestled at an altitude of 312 meters, this hidden Valencian Baroque building is the ideal spot to enjoy an exceptional view of the surrounding natural sites including the Columbretes Islands, the Desert of Las Platas and the Needles of Santa Agureda.
The Maison de la Culture, a former Renaissance prison, is now used as a venue for cultural events. It is also in this colossal monument that the School of Music and the public library are located.
Gastronomy level, Alcocéber has everything to please. Events such as the Gastronomic Days Serra d'Irta and the Ruta de la Tapa give you the opportunity to discover various facets of local cuisine. The rest of the year, the unmissable place to taste Mediterranean dishes is the restaurant El Pinar. Very nice Valentine's restaurant. You can go there without hesitation, whether to drink or to eat. The waiters and waitresses are very smiling and caring and the prices very fair.
