Proudly displaying its 36 kilometres of coastline bordered by turquoise water, Sanxenxo is located on the Galician coast, between the cities of Vigo and Santiago de Compostela. Capital of tourism in the region, the town of Sanxenxo offers a wide range of water sports, long idleness sessions, celebrations and cultural discoveries.
A mecca for Galician tourism, this former small fishing village has been trading its old fishing nets for high sails hoisted on the masts of pleasure boats for a few years now. With its privileged location in the heart of the Rias Baixas, its gentle lifestyle and its 25 white sandy beaches, Sanxenxo has quickly become a must in Galicia, attracting more and more visitors every year, perhaps at the expense of its former charm.
Walkers will find multiple hiking and cycling routes, which will allow them to discover the beauty of the immense sanxenxino coastline. From the port, you can also take to the open sea and opt for sea excursions to Île de Ons, Île de la Toja or the paradise Islands Cies. If you prefer fishing, then the fish-bearing waters of Sanxenxo will only satisfy you: you can find perch, squid or even sea bream, especially between the ports of Sanxenxo and Portonovo.
Galicia is renowned for its quality cuisine, and Sanxenxo is no exception to the rule, offering its visitors a large number of brands in which you can enjoy a warm atmosphere: you will love "Terraza del Mar" for its menu and terrace, "O Rincon dos Barcos" for its typical and tasty cuisine, "Casa Carmelita" for its pizzas, "Taberna el Nautico" for its delicious fish and seafood, or "Buras" in Portononvo for its delicious traditional tapas. Also, don't forget tortillas, empanadas, langoustines, shrimps, curries and Albarino wine, all of which are among the most popular dishes in local cuisine.
Finally, if Sanxenxo is so appreciated by holidaymakers, it is above all for its coastline and its dream beaches, oh how many on which you can choose to swim, relax or practice water activities such as jet-skiing, water skiing, sailing, scuba diving, kayaking and paddling, with the Islas Atlanticas National Park as a backdrop. Long stretches of fine sand in small intimate coves, you will be spoilt for choice. The splendid "Beach of A Lanzada" is certainly the most famous beach of Sanxenxo: very famous for the practice of nautical activities, it is a surf spot extremely appreciated by sliding enthusiasts. You will love its paradisiacal setting, with its golden sand and transparent water to be damned! We also recommend the magnificent "Canelinas Beach", the "Areas Beach", the "Silgar Beach" ideally located in the city centre and bordered by a beautiful promenade, as well as the Montalvo Beach surrounded by pines, which frequently conquers the hearts of many surfers.
