Not far from Reus, Cambrils is a Spanish town in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, on the Costa Dorada. It is encircled by the mountains of Llaberia, Argentera and Mussara.
The seaside resort is easy to spot from the sea, as its port is dominated by an ancient defensive tower that recalls the military vocation of the coastal city. Rimmed with walls since the war between Castile and Aragon in the 14th century, Cambrils was occupied by French troops during the Spanish War of Independence in the 19th century. Some of the monuments date back to a much older period, like the castle of Vilafortuny, which, although it underwent numerous modifications during its existence, dates from the 12th century. The defensive buildings dot the city and form a coherent network. However, we should not be mistaken. The tower of the Esquirol is thus not a keep but an old messenger tower that once belonged to the line of telegraphs that united Valencia in Barcelona.
Religious heritage is an important component of local tourism. The sanctuary of the Verge del Camí, also called hermitage, is a curiosity on which it is difficult to make the impasse. Located at the crossroads of the royal road between Barcelona and Valencia, this ancient medieval church contains wonderful examples of Renaissance architecture and houses an underground crypt in the shape of a Latin cross.
The beaches of Cambrils also contribute to the fame of the Spanish city. The promenades planted with palm trees and the turquoise waters are often invited on the clichés of the tourists who leave Cambrils, in any circumstance, with a smile filled.

I recommend the amusement park Aquapolis and Port Aventura... Go sunbathing on this small cove which is Cala Penya Tallada, beautiful . Stroll in Salou, full of bars and restaurants on the beach...

Excellent restaurant: "Al Punt" in the centre of Cambrils that I recommend. Warm welcome and delicious and affordable dishes. Reservation preferred.

Go to Sirvent's for ice cream across the harbour. Impressive choice of ice cream, served very generously for a more than reasonable price. Catamaran trip along the coast.
