Location
Palavas-les-Flots is a charming seaside resort on the Languedoc coast. You can discover it by strolling along its 7 kilometers of sandy beaches, strolling through its marina or along its picturesque canal lined with boats and colorful houses. The small cable car that spans the canal adds to the old-fashioned charm of the area.
For a breathtaking view of Palavas, climb to the top of the Mediterranean Lighthouse, a former water tower that has been converted into a tourist attraction. Take a look at this curious, futuristic-looking building. Clad in glass and steel, it resembles an immense spaceship. At the top of the building, a panoramic bar-restaurant offers a 360° view of the city's rooftops, the surrounding ponds, the Grande Bleue, as well as Pic Saint-Loup and the Cévennes massif on the horizon.
The location is also ideal for spotting Palavas-les-Flots' main monuments, including the imposing burgundy-tinted bell tower of the Saint-Pierre church. Built in the 19th century, it is located in the center of town, on the left bank of the canal, and is one of the oldest buildings in Palavas. Take a closer look and admire its neo-Romanesque style, then take a break in the charming Jardin Saint-Pierre at the foot of the church. A stroll along the water's edge and over the Japanese bridge is a delightful experience.
