In a beautiful position in the Chianti hills, just 30 kilometers from Florence, lies the Dimora del Castello, built on the ancient Francigena route linking France and Rome. The origins of the Dimora del Castello date back to the 13th century, when it was the residence of the Alberti Counts until the end of the 17th century, when it was successively transformed into a castle. Traces of the original castle can still be seen in the square brick tower and the ramparts that fortify the villa. The recent restoration has brought this prestigious residence back to its former splendor, without altering its architectural features, and enriching it with all the comforts of modern life. Opposite the villa is a courtyard and extensive meadow from which you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Tuscan countryside: the vineyards of the farm and, in the distance, the towers of San Gimignano. A staircase leads to the lower rampart, where you can access the swimming pool (5x10, depth 1.4 m) (18/04-30/09) with outdoor shower, surrounded by a meadow and shaded by a loggia. A greenhouse for lemon trees, converted into a lounge, overlooks the meadow and adjoins a 13th-century consecrated chapel. Beneath the castle, dug into the tufa, with a temperature that varies by just 2 degrees between summer and winter, is a small wine cellar. Included in the price: 3 hours a day for tidying the rooms (9.00 - 12.00), continental breakfast, cot.
