Contact the ownerDès notre première visite, nous sommes tombés amoureux de la vallée de Jalon, et du village d'Alcalalí en particulier. Près de la côte, mais si différent des pièces de théâtre commerciales. La convivialité de la place du village, l'amabilité apaisante des habitants, les basses montagnes qui offrent tant de possibilités de promenades à pied et à vélo ! The charm of the village square with its bars, the soothing friendliness of the inhabitants, the low mountain range that offers so many easy opportunities for walking and cycling: that is what attracted us immediately in this place. And that only a half hour drive from the coast, with various food & drink opportunities within walking distance.
Our villa is the perfect place for everyone who enjoys the combination of a relaxing holiday, with a little activity from time to time.

If you want it all (just like we do), then this region is perfect! The Jalon valley is literally 'the nose of Spain', halfway between Valencia (110km) and Alicante (80km). The climate in the Jalon valley has been named by the World Health Organization as the most healthy in the world. Others say that the sun shines on average 300 days per year. We always experience wonderful times, in all seasons, and want to share that feeling with you.
As the name implies, our Villa Arbolada is situated wonderfully among the trees. It can accommodate up to 6 people, and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor. Downstairs, next to the private pool, is a separate apartment with a third bedroom and private bathroom, toilet, shower and kitchenette. More important is the large southfacing balcony, with (almost) the whole day sun, and a fairytale view of the villages in the valley and the sunset behind the Col de Rates. With some luck you can even spot a squirrel.
On the balcony you can easily sit with six, but if you prefer to lounge you just go to our lounge corner; Here you can laze in the afternoon while the children entertain themselves in the shade. Or are they rather in the pool? You can also laze in one of the beach chairs, sun or shade yourself.
The swimming pool is maintained by our 'Piscina professor' Simon, who ensures that the water is very hygienic with the aid of UV filtering and nocturnal gradual dosing without the need for much chlorine. The temperature is of course dependent on the weather, but because the pool is in the sun the temperature is normally about 28 degrees from mid-June to the end of September. If spring comes early, it may be possible to swim in May as well. On the other hand, the swimming fun is usually over after some cold rains have crossed possibly in October.
The villa also has a very spacious living room, with a nice sitting area for the winter evenings, two dining, puzzle or game tables and a cozy open kitchen with so-called 'breakfast bar'. The kitchen is equipped with all kinds of conveniences, such as an oven, gas cooker, kitchenware, microwave, dishwasher, but above all: an espresso machine and a citrus press. Nothing better than a glass of self-pressed orange juice on the balcony, waiting for the squirrel ...
Anyone who wants to do something active after breakfast is at the right place in Alcalalí and surroundings: there is a lot to discover here. In the villa there is a folder with activities, but feel free to contact us in advance for more details or personal tips.
It is not without reason that Tom Dumoulin, Annemiek van Vleuten, Antwan Tolhoek and many other professional cyclists come here to train regularly. In 2019 even the Vuelta comes through our valley. Thanks to the many cyclists there is even a cycling café in Jalon, although Bar Toni in Alcalalí often also serves their after-activity drinks (not necessarily coffee). In the villa are four mountain bikes for daily use on tarmac. Racing bikes and full-suspension mountain bikes can be hired in Jalon (can also be delivered).
The possibilities for beautiful walks are really too many to mention: the almond blossom walks in February (even visible without walking, from our balcony), various mountain ridges with views, alternating walks with many or just few height meters. Of course, the short walk to Jalon (flea market on Saturday) or Parcent (paella eating at Era) are beautiful loafers for the first day. For both cyclists and walkers: the combination with a paella at restaurant Vista Bernia on a clear day is really tip # 1.
You can also swim on one of the beaches in the neighborhood, if our own swimming pool gets boring. The beaches come in all shapes and sizes: large wide sandy beach (like Arenal) to small intimate rocky (like Granadella).
If you prefer the trips less strenuous, the possibilities are also numerous.
