Casale Fontanino lies at the foot of the hills that descend from the medieval village of Montecarlo to the plain of Lucca. Montecarlo is a charming village bustling with stores, restaurants and wine cellars, where it's well worth stopping off to savor a Tuscan specialty and taste a "Rosso" wine from the Lucchese hills. History buffs can visit the Renaissance town of Lucca and its characteristic city walls, as well as Altopascio along the ancient Via Francigena. Also worth a visit are the village of Collodi and Villa Garzoni with its park dedicated to Pinocchio. Florence and Pisa are easily reached by train from Altopascio station. The architecture of the house is typical of Tuscan farmhouses, with stone and brick walls and exposed wooden beams. Around the house, large olive trees produce the oil that is essential for all good cooking. A well-kept meadow surrounds the house, complete with garden furniture and gazebo. The swimming pool (17x5m; depth 1.10-1.70m )(01/05-30/09) features a Jacuzzi area and multicolored lighting, making the nights particularly evocative. The property can easily accommodate a large family or a group of friends with children, who can play here in complete freedom. The accommodation is equipped with central heating, air conditioning and Wi-Fi Internet access. Domestic help, cook, baby-sitting and cookery lessons are available on request.
