Fully renovated 2-bedroom luxury house in the heart of Annecy
Welcome to the Maisonnette du Thiou!
Right in the heart of Annecy's old town, in the pedestrian zone, you'll enjoy a rare and privileged location right on the banks of the Thiou canal. A historic building in the old town, dating back to the Middle Ages, the stone wall of the maisonnette corridor was originally part of the castle's outer wall. The very last remnant of the guard-road is still visible just above the entrance door to the maisonnette. Access to the dwelling is via a quiet, private courtyard shared by all residents. For a long time, the maisonnette remained an annex to the notable Charmoisy dwelling, classified as a remarkable building in the town and certainly one of the most colorful and photographed. In the 2nd half of the 20th century, the maisonnette was converted to residential use. In 2021, the house was completely refurbished and modernized, while retaining all the charm of its former glory.
The accommodation is on the ground floor.
The maisonnette will enable you to enjoy the charms of the old town, on the banks of the canal, 200 meters from the lake and a stone's throw from all the places of interest, while remaining calm. The space in front of the front door, where three steps lead directly down to the canal, is ideal for relaxing or enjoying a meal. The accommodation is designed to comfortably accommodate two couples or a couple with one or two children. The cottage has two double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The entrance hallway on the ground floor leads to the WC, the first bedroom and its independent shower room. The fully-equipped kitchen sits centrally on the second floor, topped by a mezzanine housing a sitting area with TV. A few more steps lead to the upstairs bedroom, a former dovecote, and its integrated shower room. The accommodation is equipped with a cot for babies. However, the spiral staircase leading to the various rooms and the proximity of the canal are not compatible with welcoming young children who are beginning to walk and explore the premises on their own.

- Household linen (towels and sheets, except umbrella beds) is provided.
- Please always lock the large double wooden door to the courtyard, to keep it quiet and avoid curious onlookers.
- The premises are peaceful and must remain so. Parties are not allowed.
- Pets are not allowed in the cottage.
- The interior of the maisonette is strictly non-smoking. You may smoke outside, in front of the front door, facing the three steps leading down to the canal.
- The courtyard is shared by all Charmoisy residents. There are bike racks against the main building and a table for 4 people.
- Waste garbage cans are hidden in a corner of the courtyard. Yellow garbage can for recycling. Grey garbage can for other waste. Glass should be placed in a dedicated city bin on rue de l'Ile, turning left from the courtyard's double doors, just before the ramp leading up to the château.
- Feel free to water the flowers in the downstairs bedroom and on either side of the front door - a watering can is available in the cottage.
- There is no access by car to the foot of the building. Nearby city parking lots are mostly chargeable (with multi-day passes). The nearest free parking lot is the Sainte-Claire parking lot.
