Did you say calm, nature and discovery? Welcome to the maeva Escapades Des Gaves campsite **** located at the foot of the Laruns mountains in the Ossau Valley, in the heart of the Pyrenees region.
maeva Escapades is an invitation to take the time to rediscover France and its destinations through the eyes of people who love their region.
Here, you'll find authenticity and sometimes even the unusual, with natural, wooded accommodation that blends perfectly into this unspoilt setting, surrounded by trees and running alongside the River Des Gaves. Admire the magnificent Pyrenees chain from your wooden terrace.
And for trout fishing enthusiasts, you'll have direct access to the river.
A closer look at the surrounding countryside: The Ossau valley is one of the three valleys of the Bearn Pyrenees, comprising eighteen villages. It's also a Mecca for hikers, with the GR 10 hiking trail, the Ossau Way pilgrimage route and, for the more mountain-minded, the Haute Route Pyrénéenne.
We offer you not one, but three protected natural areas.
Firstly, the Parc National des Pyrénées in the upper valley, which protects a whole heritage of flora and fauna. The Bious-Artigues lake is home to fario and rainbow trout, which are a delight for anglers. The Pic du Midi de Bigorre is accessible by cable car.
Then there's the Ossau Nature Reserve, where griffon vultures nest in the cliffs above the village of Aste-Béon.
And finally, the famous Sierra Guara National Park, just 1h30 from our campsite, for breathtaking scenery and thrills!
To slow down the pace, take the time to stroll through the local market in Laruns and discover the region's local produce. Here, roots and traditions are as strong as the mild climate.
Focus on local traditions: whether you're here in winter or summer, the surrounding villages have some great events in store for you.
In early summer, the transhumance is celebrated, from Bielle to the pastures of Bious-Artigues.
On August 15, the village of Laruns hosts its traditional festivities.
For food lovers, the Foire aux fromages de Laruns is held on the first weekend in October.
In winter, the ski resorts of Gourette and Artouste present festive events around skiing and mountain racing.
To take advantage of the panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, the campsite offers a range of facilities: an aquatic area with a heated pool and children's pool, and a small lagoon with rocks, a waterfall, a pontoon and a whirlpool bench.
Your little ones can enjoy the paddling pool while you bask in the sun on one of the deckchairs on the wooden solarium terrace. There's also a games room with billiards, table soccer and two ping-pong tables.
We also offer a range of services, including a bar where you can enjoy an aperitif with friends. Free wifi access at the bar, rental of bed linen and toiletries for a comfortable stay, and a welcome drink on Sunday evening!
In July and August, we also organize pétanque and ping-pong tournaments.
