The downtown area is a very lively district during the day: an indoor & outdoor market every day in summer, 3 downtown supermarkets, beautiful boutiques, numerous restaurants, cafés and ice cream parlors.... but also a train station, numerous buses (linking the ocean beaches, among others), sea buses (to Moulleau), maritime shuttles (crossing Arcachon - Ferret, excursions to Île aux Oiseaux, Banc d'Arguin...), the Ville d'Hiver tourist train (Arcachon's historic district), numerous bike paths all around the Bassin and down to the ocean, and above all the region's most beautiful fine-sand beaches!
If you're looking for a night out, take advantage of the restaurants in the town center or enjoy an ice cream on the seafront promenade. For the more festive, head for the lively Moulleau district of Arcachon.
