Location
Nestled between the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and the Massif des Maures, Grimaud is a charming village with a strong medieval character. Perched on a hill, the first thing you see when you arrive is its castle. Built in the 11th century, this feudal edifice, whose imposing ruins still stand, boasts a magnificent panorama of the coastline and the wooded hills of the Maures massif.
Grimaud's richly-preserved heritage includes a succession of pretty, flower-filled cobbled streets, squares, arcades and restored old houses. In the old village, you can also discover the beautiful late 12th-century church of Saint-Michel, built in the Provencal Romanesque style and featuring an 1850 fresco depicting Saint Michael, Saint Peter and Saint Bartholomew, as well as contemporary stained-glass windows created in 1975 by jeweller Jacques Gautier. Near the village, starting from the Saint-Roch mill, the path leading to the Pont des Fées will delight lovers of nature walks, with its soothing setting and magnificent view of the château!
