On the Atlantic Ocean, between Capbreton and Biarritz, Ondres is a charming little seaside resort that offers you a 100% natural holiday. Between its beautiful coastline, its immense pine forest, its hiking trails and the Vélodyssée, you will be able to recharge your batteries while practising numerous activities.
With its beautiful beach of fine sand that stretches over 2 kilometers, Ondres invites you first of all to enjoy the nautical pleasures. In the heart of the surfing country, you can take initiation or advanced courses to slide like a pro on the beautiful spots of the Landes coast. But you can also let yourself be tempted by many other sensations : bodysurfing, kitesurfing, paddle... During this time, your children will be delighted to have fun within the club Le Gecko (trampoline, inflatable structures...) or to learn to swim with Water'Happy in a specially equipped swimming pool on the beach.
Then take the time to walk around the village. Discover Saint-Pierre d'Ondres church, built at the end of the 19th century in a Romanesque Revival style. Imposing, it has a high tower-donjon which gives it a cathedral look. Inside, enjoy the monumental triptych that pays homage to the head of the Catholic Church, the high altar, the beautiful stained glass windows and the statue of Saint Therese of Lisieux. Then visit the Harsaout house which was built at the beginning of the 17th century and served as a post office relay until 1834. Then take a stroll near the Etang de Garros to admire the Château de la Roque, a superb fortress built in the 12th century on a promontory.
Take also advantage of the numerous footpaths of the resort to discover the vast pine forest and the numerous lakes and ponds of Ondres (Turc, Laguibe, Beyre...). Then take the cycle paths to visit the other villages of the old barony of Seignanx : Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx (church, castle, villa Saint-Jean), Saint-Laurent-de-Gosse (church, castle of Montpellier-sur-Adour), Saint-André-de-Seignanx (castles, beautiful bourgeois houses)... In two-wheelers, you can also follow the Vélodyssée to go south to Tarnos, Anglet or Biarritz, and north to Capbreton or Hgorosse. After a busy day, settle down in a good restaurant in Ondres to taste the regional specialities : foie gras, confits and duck breasts, Bayonne ham, sheep's milk cheeses, Basque cake...
