Located in the south of the island of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, Playa Blanca offers an ideal setting for an exotic holiday. Around a small fishing port, the village has many small busy streets, lined with restaurants and shops, and beautiful beaches that allow you to fully enjoy the ocean.
Playa Blanca is one of the most popular seaside resorts in Lanzarote. With its beautiful beaches and clear seabed, it is a real invitation to swimming and diving. But you can also relax on the sand or practice many other activities: windsurfing, sailing, water skiing, water bike... Because of its privileged geographical location, in the south of the island, do not hesitate, either, to offer you excursions to the nearby islands of Fuerteventura and Isla de Lobos. Discover the nearby beaches of Papagayo and Quemada, other jewels of the south coast.
After a few hours by the ocean, take the time to discover the historical monuments located near Playa Blanca. Less than 10 kilometres away, in Femés, admire the church of San Marcial, which was at the origin of the first diocese of the Canaries in the 15th century. In Yaisa, visit the hermitage of Los Remedios, the high place of worship of the region, the House of Benito Pérez Armas, remarkable cultural center and enjoy the defensive tower del Aguila. Treat yourself to an escapade to Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, and discover San Gabriel Castle, converted into an archaeological museum, and San José Castle which houses a museum of contemporary art.
Superbly shaped by past volcanic activity, the island of Lanzarote conceals remarkable natural sites. Near Playa Blanca, you can visit the natural park of Los Volcanes and its incredible landscapes covered with lava and ashes. This park is home to three essential sights : Los Hervideros, impressive basalt cliffs, the green lagoon of El Golfo and the still exploited Janubio salt works. But also discover Timanfaya National Park with its huge lava sea and numerous craters. In the evening, back in Playa Blanca, choose one of the many restaurants of the resort to taste the local flavors : ranchos, papas arrugadas, vieja a la espalda, salmon of Uga, jareas, pejines, sancocho...
