For a green holiday, in harmony with nature, contemplative or sporty, Aveyron is always, let's face it, a very good idea to put your bags down. During a stay with family or friends, how about discovering the wonderful village of Entraygues-sur-Truyère?
Picturesque: that's the word that comes directly to mind when you arrive in Entraygues-sur-Truyère. A small Aveyron town nestled between Aurillac and Rodez, Entraygues-sur-Truyère is located in the west of the Aveyron, on the border with the Cantal. Crossed by the river Truyère which gives its name to the town, the latter is surprising and fascinating thanks to the beauty of its heritage. Just imagine: at the water's edge, the old houses with slate roofs form the panorama, with thick green forests as a backdrop. A gothic bridge built in the 13th century welcomes visitors passing through the Entrayole region: a perfect postcard of the village, poetically perched above the Truyère, it is also the ideal starting point for a canoe or kayak trip on the Lot gorges, towards Estaing. Here, the stones are old, the houses are adorned with half-timbering and corbels from the 15th and 16th centuries, the bridges are old, forming a whole that cannot be more full of history. To discover this magnificent heritage, there is nothing better than to take the Tour de Ville paths, with its houses leaning against the old wall that once protected the town. A must-see? The fortified castle! Fortified in 1290, this imposing castle stands proudly in the heart of the village. With its crenellated ramparts, defence towers, gates, moat and drawbridge, this former defensive fort still has a very beautiful exterior, although it has been pillaged and its gates and old watchtowers removed. The church of Saint-Georges is also worth a visit: built at the end of the 19th century, it is worth a look for its splendid organ, as well as for its beautiful rose window on the façade. The Notre-Dame du Pontet chapel to the south of Entraygues-sur-Truyère, at the confluence of the Lot and the Estampe stream, as well as the Notre-Dame bridge (end of the 13th century) complete the list of sites to visit in Entraygues.
Staying in Entraygues-sur-Truyère is also a way to take a break in the countryside, with the family, which is both sporty and exotic. Among the activities preferred by visitors, canoeing and kayaking, as well as rafting and canyoning, but also paddle, mountain biking, and hiking are among the most popular sports from the first fine days. Thanks to a whole range of signposted itineraries, you can walk along the banks of the Lot Gorges, the Daze valley, the loops of the GR de Pays d'Entraygues, but also visit Florentin, Banhars, Campouriez, Rouens, Couesques, Pons, Saint-Hippolyte, Golinhac, Le Fel and its vineyards, Espeyrac... And even the lakes of Maury (20 kilometres away) and Galens (25 kilometres away), perfect for swimming as well as for water sports and fishing! All in all, an unforgettable holiday in Aveyron!

Very good butcher's shop on the main street (ah the farçous!) and excellent tea room on the central square with ice-cream to fall. Don't miss the local producers' market on Wednesday evenings where you can enjoy local specialities (truffade, to fall!). Otherwise, the village of Conques half an hour away: really superb.

In Entraygues and the surrounding area, a range of activities awaits you: canoeing, horse riding, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, canyoning, acrobatic trekking in the trees with zip lines, via ferrata, hiking tours and playful visits for children: goats, Aubrac cows, Laguiole knife... In Entraygues you will find all the shops and services, a cinema, many craftsmen, restaurants and farm inns, all year round, but also a dynamic tourist office which publishes many excursion programmes, on foot (350 km of marked out circuits in a loop around Entraygues), by mountain bike (12 routes from 8 to 30 km with indication of the level of difficulty) or by car (14 different circuits for total circuits from 30 to 100 km).
