Camargue and the calanques. To complete the whole, this seaside district even has one of the most beautiful beaches in the country of Martigues : it is the "Plage du Verdon". Located in the cove of the same name, this stretch of fine sand, nearly 350 metres long, is a delight for families who come to bathe in great numbers. If several beach volleyball courts are set up on the beach, she also benefits from numerous restaurants and lawns, perfect for picnics (without the risk of putting sand in her sandwich !). In the nearby cove, the "Plage de la Couronne Vieille" consists of two small beaches sheltered from the winds. One, made of pebbles, is very appreciated for the launching of the boats in particular and the long idleness sessions under the sun. The second beach, next to the lighthouse, welcomes diving aficionados who, equipped with their masks and snorkels, go to meet the treasures of the martegaux coast. For more intimate moments of relaxation, head for Bourmandariel cove which shelters several small magnificent coves : these wild beaches, sometimes made of pebbles, sometimes made of sand, are very appreciated by holidaymakers in search of calm. The place is also conducive to underwater exploration, particularly thanks to the diving club on one of the cove's beaches. Finally the "Plage de Sainte Croix" is certainly the most popular beach of La Couronne : made famous thanks to the series "Camping Paradis" (broadcast on TF1), this large beach is divided into two parts. You will fall under the charm of its exceptional setting, a splendid picture where the pines rub shoulders with the azure of the water, the warmth of the sand and the beauty of a chapel. Know that the clear waters of this charming seaside resort have been labelled Pavillon Bleu for several years, making it a safe place for family swimming.
