Between the Côte Fleurie, the Côte de Nacre and the Côte du Bessin, Calvados offers you a thousand and one ways to enjoy the sea. A land with a rich past, Calvados also invites you to explore some famous pages of history. For example, follow in the footsteps of William the Conqueror: in Falaise, to see the castle where he grew up; in Caen, to admire the fabulous buildings he had built: the ducal castle, the Ladies' Abbey, the Men's Abbey; in Bayeux, to appreciate the 11th century tapestry which recounts his conquest of England. Then take a leap of faith and discover the landing beaches (Omaha, Utah, Juno, Sword and Gold) and the many sites that recall the Battle of Normandy: the Caen Memorial, the Arromanches Landing Museum, the Pegasus Memorial...
But also take advantage of your stay in Calvados to discover the richness of its natural environment. By taking the many marked paths or cycle routes, you will be amazed by the serenity of the bocage of the Pays d'Auge, by the gentleness of the Suisse Normande and by the brightness of the coastline which has inspired so many painters. On the way, take the time to visit Beuvron-sur-Auge, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and the many parks and gardens of the department: those of the castles of Vendeuvre, Canon, Bouttemont, Brécy... And don't forget to taste all the flavours of this fabulous land: apple products, milk products (butter, cream, cheese), sea products (oysters, scallops, fish)...
