Ars-en-Ré, a charming village nestled on the Ile de Ré, is certainly one of the most beautiful destinations for holidaymakers who love nature and wide open spaces. Renowned for its elegant architecture, the fishing village of Ars-en-Ré is made of traditional white houses with green shutters, decorated with fragrant and colourful hollyhocks. Known for its incomparable beauty but also for its calm, Ars-en-Ré is one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France": you will love walking or cycling along its cobbled streets, discovering its typical island heritage. You will not want to miss its high Romanesque church: surmounted by a two-coloured belfry, painted in black and white, it can be seen from all over the city. Built during the 7th century, it serves as a guide for boats from its 40 meters high. Continue your visit by strolling through the streets of Ars-en-Ré to discover its outstanding monuments such as the Maison du Sénéchal (16th century), to finally land in the village's marina for an iodine break: highly appreciated by boaters and budding sailors, it can accommodate up to 500 boats, as many sailboats and boats each more beautiful than the next. The bike paths and trails that cross the island will lead you tirelessly to the salt marshes, local pride and emblematic site of Île-de-Ré. Located to the east, they occupy almost half the surface area of the municipality.

As you go for a walk, you will be dazzled by the magnificence of this extraordinary little village. Each outing will be punctuated by breathtaking views of the blue ocean as far as the eye can see... an idyllic holiday setting! If there is one thing to do during your stay, it is to walk at sunrise and sunset, when the frenzy of the Arsaise days fades and a calm and poetic atmosphere takes over the city. The sunsets over Ars-en-Ré are simply sumptuous, especially when the sun falls behind the salt marshes and its colours are reflected in the salt water... Close your eyes and imagine this show: a panorama worthy of the most beautiful postcards!

Ars-en-Ré was once an island: that's why its coast is so wild. It will of course be possible for you to swim and relax under the Retais sun, so generous in summer. La Grange beach will be ideal for family afternoons: although unsupervised, it is much appreciated for its setting and intimacy. You can sail, kite, bodyboard, jet-ski, but also fish by line or on foot. Easy to access, it is located just next to a well-known surf spot: the pointe de Grignon.
