In the heart of the Côtes-d'Armor, between Saint-Brieuc and Saint-Malo, Pléneuf-Val-André-Val-André is located about ten kilometres from Cap d'Erquy. An elegant seaside resort surrounded by wild landscapes, it will delight lovers of wide open spaces and exceptional landscapes.
Pléneuf-Val-André is first of all a village of character (Pléneuf), created during the 5th century by refugees from Great Britain. It is also a dynamic seaside resort with an outdated charm created in 1880 (Val-André), typical of sea bathing towns: with its beautiful and cosy villas made up of pink granite, schist, bow-windows and balconies made of white worked wood, Pléneuf-Val-André is a resolutely chic destination, where a sweet scent of the "British" tradition hovers. The third particularity of the municipality is its marina. Once a home port, the so-called "Dahouët" has managed over the years to preserve its picturesque character, typical of 19th century ports with its long quays and former shipowners' houses.
These three districts are all bordered by the resort's main asset: its beaches. Four long beaches of fine sand line the town from north to south, including the beach of Nantois, the beach of Les Vallées, the beach of the City of Berneuf and the beach of Val André. Overhung by the resort's 18-hole golf course, Les Vallées beach is certainly the most elegant of Pléneuf's beaches: it attracts most families, but also fishermen on foot and kitesurfers. In its extension you will find the beach of Val André, the largest of the whole seaside resort, which delights young and old with its 2.5 kilometres. Bordered by a seawall where cyclists and onlookers love to stroll at any time of the day, it is decorated with magnificent seaside villas, most of which date back to the Belle Époque. Here, in addition to swimming, there are many holidaymakers who come in large numbers to practice a wide range of water sports, from kayaking to surfing, sailing, diving, catamarans and paddles. Further north in the direction of Erquy, the beaches of Nantois (naturist) and Berneuf follow one another, both of which are very popular with sports enthusiasts.
A relaxing break at the Val André marine spa? A game of golf? An excursion to the ornithological reserve of the Isle of Verdelet or a hike on the GR 34, well known as the "Sentier des Douaniers"? A bike ride or a horseback ride along the coast? A reading break in front of the emerald sea? You won't know what to start with as the field of possibilities is so wide in Pléneuf-Val-André. We recommend that you reach the tip of the Grand Guette for its inspiring views of Erquy, the Emerald Coast and the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, but also visit the Château de Bienassis and its pink granite walls.
