In the suburbs of Saint-Brieuc, just ten kilometres from the most beautiful beaches of the Côtes-d'Armor, the small town of Plerneuf enjoys an ideal location to discover some of the most charming corners of North Brittany.

A quiet town away from the seaside resorts and their crowds, Plerneuf is definitely the perfect place to settle down and enjoy the wonders and delights of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. As for heritage, Plerneuf does not have a very large number of sites to visit, except for its typical chapel of the Pré de l'Aulne, easily identifiable by its steep tower and its beautiful old granite stones. However, historians and archaeologists have nevertheless found traces of the Celtic period in the town, but the dolmens, tumuli and menhirs that dot the surroundings of Plerneuf were also witnesses to the very ancient history of Plerneuf, dating back to the pre-Celtic period.

But the main interest of Plerneuf lies in its perfect geolocation, about ten minutes from the city centre of Saint-Brieuc and the beaches of the seaside resorts of its bay. Prefecture of the Côtes-d'Armor, Saint-Brieuc is above all known for its built heritage and its gastronomy. Passing through the walls of the Briochina city, it is impossible to miss the Saint-Étienne cathedral, half Romanesque and half Gothic, which dominates the whole city. Linger on Place du Martray for the market or a lunch break, explore Place au Lin, Rue Quinquaine, Rue Aux Toiles, Rue Gouët or Rue Fardel, to discover the magnificent half-timbered houses of the Middle Ages that dot them. What do we eat when we pass through Saint-Brieuc? A concentrate of iodine flavours, sea almonds, oysters, shepherds, gratinated abalone, a cotriade of fish, scallops, but also (and especially!) delicious buckwheat pancakes, Breton fish quiches, artichokes, Breton far, kouign-amann, Paimpol coconuts and cider, which accompany all good meals. After this very urban visit, head for the beaches of Plérin, Pordic or Binic, all located about ten kilometres from Plerneuf. Whether they are made of pebbles like the one at Le Petit Havre in Pordic, or made of fine sand like the Corps de Garde beach or the magnificent beach at the Avant-Port in Binic, these splendid beaches will be ideal for bubbling under the Breton sun. On the agenda? Swimming (we assure you that the water is not so cold!), hiking on the GR34 which runs along the entire coast, surfing, paddle, sea kayaking, bodyboarding, kitesurfing, catamaran cruises at the foot of the cliffs, fishing, water walking... But also cycling by the sea, horseback riding and other sea excursions will not fail to satisfy sports enthusiasts, contemplatives and outdoor lovers.
