Located in the heart of the Pays du Léon, nicknamed the "Garden of Brittany" because of its many agricultural areas, Plouescat satisfies every year both nature lovers and water sports aficionados. Famous for its dreamlike landscapes, this seaside resort owes much of its fame to its immense sandy beaches and its secret coves worthy of the most beautiful postcards. And there is plenty to see for those who love maritime landscapes, since Plouescat enjoys a coastline of more than 13 kilometres, shaped by the whims of the wind and the sea. Thick dunes and astonishingly shaped granite boulders dot its coastline, offering hikers, mountain bikers and other passing riders a huge open-air discovery area. The Bay of Kernic, classified as a Natura 2000 area, is a must see: with its panoramas changing with the seasons and the weather, it welcomes at low tide a very large number of sea birds, observable with the naked eye or with binoculars. In addition to being the perfect place to stroll in the early morning or at sunset, this place is particularly appreciated by water sports enthusiasts who come here to enjoy windsurfing or kitesurfing on a spot totally dedicated to the practice of sport. This bay concentrates the largest beaches of Plouescat, made of fine sand and particularly pleasant throughout the year for walking, fishing or swimming in the summer. Take the time to discover all the beaches and creeks of the resort, from the beach of Poulfoën to the beach of Click, through the magnificent cove of Porz ar Streat known for its seahorse sculpture, the rocky beach of Saint-Eden, the quiet beach of Porsgweney, those of Le Port and Porsmeur. And as far as water activities are concerned, in addition to kitesurfing and sand yachting, you can also try your hand at paddling, Polynesian pirogue, sailing, optimist, catamaran, aquagym at sea, kayaking, coastal sailing... So many activities that will allow you to get active while enjoying the sea and the splendour of the place!
Plouescat, a land of encounters, tirelessly invites you to discover its maritime landscapes, each one more astonishing than the next. To discover the most beautiful facets of this magnificent diamond? We can only recommend that you opt for a walk along the footpaths of the famous GR34 which runs along the whole of Brittany. In addition to the latter, the municipality has several marked routes inland, to allow you to discover its more historical side. Gallic stelae, typical buildings of the local architecture and other vestiges of the Neolithic period will no longer hold any secrets for you. The goémon ovens dug into the dunes, the Halles de Plouescat (15th century), but also the menhir of Camlouis near the eponymous cove or the covered alley of Guirnivit (in the Bay of Kernic) are among the most important sites of the local heritage, not to be missed during your visit.
