Looking for a holiday in the sun? A change of scenery, cultural discoveries, sports, contemplation, and wonderful moments of sharing by the turquoise water? Direction Le Moule... in Guadeloupe!
Known to be one of the oldest cities in Guadeloupe, Le Moule is the sweetness of life in its purest form. Spread out between Morne-à-l'Eau and Saint-François, in the north-east of the island of Grande Terre, Le Moule is located right on the waterfront, on the Atlantic side of the island. Here, the climate is tropical, guaranteeing dry and cool winters, and hot and humid summers. A humidity that has allowed the expansion of an abundant and wonderful flora over the centuries, which you can discover all over the city. On the seaside, the sea grass beds and coral reefs are legion, while the plantations of fruit trees such as apricot trees, guava trees and breadfruit trees abound in the forests and savannahs towards Grand-Fond. Sugar cane, pear trees, coconut trees, grape trees and mangrove swamps along the estuaries of the Audoin and North-West ravines can also be discovered via small walking routes which will allow you to visit the commune at your own pace.
If there is one thing that one retains from a stay in Le Moule, it is the color. In the heart of the town, colour is everywhere, omnipresent, the buildings are all more colourful than the others, giving the impression of strolling through an open-air sweet shop. What to see? The town hall, without a doubt! Painted in white, turquoise and yellow, it is one of the most emblematic buildings of the city. The town also has many sites and monuments to visit, such as the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church dating from 1850, the Zévallos colonial house, the Néron sugar house, which still houses a colonial house that hosts exhibitions, not to mention the many emblematic houses of the local architecture that dot the town centre. The Damoiseau Distillery from the end of the 19th century, the only distillery still in operation on Grande-Terre, but also the Edgar-Clerc archaeological museum, the Rosette landscape park, the old fort and the battery of cannons, the Patate shelter decorated with cave paintings and the old lemonade factory near the port will complete the inventory of sites to visit.
Le Moule is also an omnipresent nature. So, with good shoes, you can stroll around the landscaped park of Damencourt, walk around the Grands-Fonds area, or take the time to stroll around the fishing port. Authentic as can be, it is a must for those who wish to go to the wonderful sandy beach of l'Autre Bord: an ideal place for swimming in a lagoon of breathtaking beauty, this beach invites you to relax and share moments with your family. It is the perfect place for a picnic in the shade of coconut and grape trees, and for a romantic stroll with your feet in the water at sunset! The Alizés beach, the bay beach and the Damencourt spot will satisfy surf and windsurf lovers thanks to strong waves, while the Porte d'Enfer beach and the Montal beach will be ideal for lazing around in the sun.
