A star seaside resort in Haute-Corse, located 25 kilometres north of Calvi, Île-Rousse faces the islands of Pietra and Saletta, two red granite islets to which it owes its name. A marked cultural and architectural heritage, typical of this pretty corner of the Isle of Beauty. We recommend a stop on the island of Pietra: accessible by the road leading to the eponymous lighthouse, it is home to the Genoese Tower of Pietra, the very symbol of the town of Ile-Rousse. In the centre of the village, between the discovery of old buildings with Florentine staircases and small artisanal shops with a crazy cachet, the Tour de Scalo is also worth seeing: built during the 16th century, it was once used as a salt warehouse before becoming a military powder magazine in the 18th century and then a prison during the Second World War. The former military barracks of 1765 (now the Town Hall), but also the covered market classified as a Historical Monument in 1993, the war memorial between sea and mountains or the Paoli Square are to be added to your list of visits. On the latter, a bust of Pascal Paoli (founder of the city) and a sculpture of "Bather" are enthroned. This is where all the life of L'Île-Rousse is concentrated: here, bars and restaurants abound, in a friendly atmosphere that is sure to delight lovers of small drinks with friends and petanque at nightfall. The bronze sculpture of the "Siren" at the Scalu, the church of the Immaculate Conception of Mary (and its paintings of "The Temptation of Christ" and "Saint-Jérome") and the church of the Mercy (recognizable by its large white front) are to be added to the list of your visits to discover all the wonderful heritage of Île-Rousse.
For more "green" or "blue" walks, here in this case, towards the port of L'Île-Rousse. The third largest fishing and yachting port in Corsica, this sublime place is a perpetual invitation to stroll, whatever time of the year you put your suitcases there. If the place lends itself perfectly to banter and gourmet parentheses, note that it offers splendid panoramas on the turquoise of the sea. But what makes the splendour of Ile-Rousse is undeniably its beaches. Each one more beautiful than the other, they seem like straight out of the most beautiful postcards that we make of the island. If the Napoleon and Caruchetta beaches in the city centre are the most family-friendly, the Nautical Beach is, as its name suggests, more renowned for the practice of water sports activities ranging from scuba diving (the transparent and turquoise water of the seaside resort lends itself well to this) to sailing, not forgetting SUP, surfing, wakeboarding and many other water sports, to satisfy all your desires in this area. For wilder beaches, head for Gjunchitu and Bodri beaches, or the Pietra cove: be careful, dreamy panoramas at the end!

Very pretty city, very pleasant, recommend the little train that will take you to the lighthouse of the Pietra which will give you another corner of Ile Rousse. Beautiful region, and very nice Corsicans.
