Adjacent to the large domain of Saint-Lary-Soulan, and close to the ski resort of Val Louron, the small village of Vignec takes place in the department of Hautes-Pyrénées, in the Occitan region.
Ideally located at the gateway to one of the most beautiful ski areas in the Pyrenees, 20 kilometres from the Spanish border, Vignec is the perfect place to put your suitcases for family holidays in the mountains. In the heart of the Aude Valley, perched between 797 and 2530 metres above sea level, this village is definitely the perfect place to stay to enjoy all the advantages of the resort of Saint-Lary-Soulan without being overcrowded. Although it does not have a huge heritage, this charming village is well worth a stroll. Along the Neste river, it lends itself perfectly to family outings as well as to hikes, for experienced walkers; you will discover during your outings the wash-house, the church of Saint-Jacques de Vignec and the chapel of the same name, which constitute the essential part of the historical and architectural heritage of the commune.
Vignec's major asset is therefore its strategic location, at the foot of the Saint-Lary-Soulan ski resort and spa. With a ski area of more than 100 kilometres of slopes spread across the Espiaube, Vallon du Portet and Pla d'Adet, this family resort above all has many facilities for everyone, from the kidpark to the snowpark, not forgetting a tobogganing area which is very popular with holidaymakers. If Saint-Lary 1700 (la Pla d'Adet) has beautiful technical tracks including red and black tracks, as well as kindergartens, Saint-Lary 1900 (Espiaube) attracts attention thanks to its very long tracks, such as the Terranère track or the Mirabelle track (more than 3 kilometres). Côté Saint-Lary 2400 (Vallon du Portet), 360° panoramas are waiting for you on the snow-covered mountains of the Pyrenees: you can cross-country ski, have fun in its snowpark, treat yourself in its high-altitude restaurants, or go to the magnificent Lac de l'Oule. In addition to skiing or cross-country skiing, you can practice a wide range of sports according to your desires, from speed-riding to snowmobiling, dog-sledding, snowboarding and paragliding.
Finally, when the weather is fine, Vignec becomes a real little paradise for hikers and lovers of green outings. The Aure valley and the Néouvielle lakes are particularly suitable for sporting expeditions, as are the GR10 and GR105 trails which will allow you to discover all the beauty of the surrounding villages, from Saint-Lary to the historic town of Arreau, via Loudenvielle and its splendid lake of Génos-Loudenvielle.
