On the Landes coast, near Capbreton, Labenne is an ideal destination to recharge your batteries while practising many activities. Between ocean, forest, hiking trails, bike paths, zoo and amusement parks, you will be spoilt for choice !
Bordered by a forest of pines and cork oaks, the beach of Labenne offers you more than 3 kilometers of blond sand to enjoy the joys of the ocean. In this sumptuous setting, it will be difficult for you to resist for very long the call of the spray and not to throw yourself into the water. Next to the swimming areas, you can practice many water activities : surf, bodyboard, paddle, canoe... After a little exercise, sit on the warm sand for a few moments of relaxation or enjoy a terrace of coffee to enjoy a good ice cream, facing the Atlantic. To the delight of the children, the beach also has a playground where they can have fun while making friends.
Then set off to discover the village and its heritage. Next to the beautiful Saint-Nicolas-de-Labenne church, you can see the Basque pelota pediment and, in the shade of the plane trees, the petanque fields, so typical in this part of the Landes. Also visit the Orx Marsh Nature Reserve, the last major wetland on the Aquitaine coast. Once drained to allow agricultural activity, this old polder has once again been covered by water and has now become a passage for many migratory birds. To observe more exotic animals, also go to the Labenne zoo or the Reptilarium which gathers more than 150 species of creeping animals.
Hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts will be delighted by the many trails that criss-cross the resort. They will allow you to discover the immense forest of Labenne (1700 hectares), to join the pretty villages of Messanges, the Vieux-Boucau or the beaches of Hossegor, and to take the coastal way of Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. As a family, please your children by taking them to Aquatic Landes (wave pools, giant slides, pentaglisse...) or Robinson Park, Aquitaine's largest accrobranche course. Finally, do not forget to taste all the flavours of this beautiful gastronomic region : seafood, ham, foie gras, confits, piperade... and the famous sand wine produced on the dunes of the Landes coast.
