Along the Gulf of Morbihan, in the heart of southern Brittany, lies the seaside resort of Sarzeau. Very appreciated by holidaymakers because of its long beaches of fine sand, it is ideal for an exotic holiday, in the middle of breathtaking landscapes.
Located on the Rhuys Peninsula, Sarzeau attracts many visitors during the summer. Its north coast reveals a panorama cut out, changing according to the tides and the seasons. Here, marshes, hamlets, strikes and oyster fields tirelessly dot the landscape. On the south coast, facing the Atlantic, you will discover an alternation of creeks, rocky points and long sandy stretches. You will have only the embarrassment of the choice to plant your parasol : the beaches of Sarzeau are numerous and make the happiness of the bathers as well as the surfers, who come there to devote themselves to their favorite activities from the early morning. The beach of Saint-Jacques is the smallest of all the beaches of Sarzeau : located at the border of the commune of Saint Gildas, it is very close to the port of Saint-Jacques. Divided into several small coves, it is ideal for relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The beach of Kerfontaine will please children who can swim safely, and the beach of Roaliguen will be ideal for fishing on foot. Between the beach of Beh Lann and the tip of Penvin, you will find long and quiet stretches of fine sand. If the beach of Penvins is more family, that of Landrézac is famous to be the paradise of the kitesurfers. On the agenda ? Sunbathing on the beach, swimming in clear waters, paddle, diving, kayaking, windsurfing, beach volleyball, playgrounds for the little ones or surfing : there is something for everyone !
Lovers of beautiful walks, you are in the right place since Sarzeau is the starting point of a multitude of walking routes. After having visited the city and seen its beautiful houses with XVII century facades, go to the Castle of Suscinio. Between land and marsh, facing the ocean, this building was once one of the Dukes of Brittany's favourite homes. Built in the 13th century, it hosts historical shows and cultural events every summer. The town of Sarzeau has a multitude of manors and castles : Kerthomas, Truscat, Neret, Kergeorget, are among the most remarkable, but you will especially have to visit the castle of Kerlevénan. Built in the 18th century, this building with its neoclassical architecture is classified as a Historic Monument. We advise you to visit its sublime gardens ! During your excursions, you will certainly cross the path of megaliths, as the menhir of Kermaillard or the dolmen of Lannek-er-Men, located on the road of the Bernon point. Take the direction of the Gulf Road, where nearly 25 kilometers of trails will allow you to enjoy exceptional views of the Sarzeautin coast. Along the Customs Path, on the coastal paths of the GR 34, through the Duer marsh, the oyster fields, the rows of mimosas and cork oaks, there are many itineraries. We advise you to take a bike ride in the direction of the Pointe de Penvins to discover the Notre-Dame de la Côte chapel, facing the immensity of the ocean and the tumult of the waves.
Finally, strongly anchored in the Breton, maritime and oyster farming tradition, Sarzeau abounds in gourmet addresses: you can taste Tome de Rhuys, Breton biscuits, andouille de Guéméné, freshly caught crustaceans, Breton cakes (of course !), and cider, produced on the peninsula.

To do: customs trail, visit of the gates (very pretty), village of Rochefort en Terre, walk in the marshes of Brières and restaurant "Les Viviers de Banastère".

The Roaliguen sailing school is really great, family oriented, caring with children and takes into account the needs of apprentice sailors. Even if it is a little far from the port, we recommend it! Great walks or bike rides!

To visit: Beautiful Island at sea with the bus route, the tour of the Gulf, the castle of Suscinio (in the brochure, it is noted 1h30 of visit: we spent almost 3 hours there!!), beach of Saint Gildas de Rhuys, the coasts to discover thanks to the hiking trails. Restaurant at the "Le Pie Noire" farm in Penvins, the "Les Bigoudens" and "Les Salines" creperie.

Off-season it's not the same thing, there are many things to visit, including a castle near Sarzeau which is superb and beautiful small harbours!
