In the heart of the MoselleVosges Mountains, in the Moselle department and on the border with the Bas-Rhin, Dabo is located in the Pays de Sarrebourg. Spread out between 236 and 945 metres above sea level, this charming little town will delight holidaymakers who love unspoilt nature, peace and quiet and sporting challenges. Ready for adventure?
Hikers looking for the ideal place to put your suitcases down? You've definitely come to the right place. Crossed by a myriad of marked trails, the village of Dabo will allow you to discover the magnificence of the Moselle Vosges, whether you are on foot or by bike. Through its forests planted with thornbushes and ferns, and studded with large sandstone rocks, you will discover everything that makes up the charm of this pretty corner of greenery, and will tirelessly arrive at the side of the Rock of Dabo. An absolutely magnificent belvedere, this rock topped by a chapel emerges from the forests at an altitude of 664 metres, impressing passing visitors. Formed more than 200 million years ago, this large pink sandstone rock was once adorned with a medieval castle, destroyed by order of Louis XIV in 1690 to house a church. A popular place of pilgrimage in the region, it offers its visitors incredible panoramas of the blue line of the Vosges, the Lorraine plateau, Saverne, Phalsbourg and Sarrebourg, and the whole of the Vosges massif. Whether you are on foot, horseback, mountain bike, motorbike, road or marked trails, this extraordinary Celtic place of worship accessible after climbing 62 steps will not fail to amaze you! Our advice: climb the rock via the "Circuit du Rocher", a 4 kilometre loop which starts at the village church and which will tell you, thanks to a whole bunch of interpretation panels, the history of the local fauna, flora and traditions. The Backofenfels promontory (740 metres above sea level) is also worth a visit, as are the Altdort and Zorn valley with its Highland Cattle. All in all, the Phasbourg-Dabo region offers hikers more than 350 kilometres of signposted hiking trails with picnic areas between 200 and 940 metres above sea level, ideal for sporting excursions as well as gentle family outings. On the cycling side, 10 marked mountain bike trails starting from Dabo and Phalsbourg will delight pedal aficionados. Climbing on the rocks of Falkenfels and Kuhberg (Hellert), on the rocks of Les Corbeaux, Le Petit Moulin (Lutzelbourg), on the rock of the Canal (Henridorrf) or on the boulder sites of Hultehouse, but also trout fishing in the Zorn, paragliding from the village of Haselbourg, go-karting and alpine tobogganing (in Saint-Louis) will punctuate your stay in the Vosges mountains.
Finally a little further south, the Château du Nideck and its dazzling waterfall, but also cultural Strasbourg (52 kilometres away), or Pierre-Percée and its breathtaking lake (about 60 kilometres away) are to be added to your "to do list" of holidays when you come to Dabo!

On the spot: a short walk under the fir trees to the Rocher de Dabo (magnificent view) followed by a great piece of pie at the restaurant "Le Katz" in the centre of Dabo.
