"Paris did not build in one day," says the dictum. It would be equally illusory to think of visiting it for such a short period of time, as the French capital contains incredible monuments, fabulous museums and picturesque districts.

Paris owes its name to the Celtic tribe of Parisii who had built, in the 3rd century BC, a fishing village on the island of the City. Occupied by the Romans and destroyed by the barbarians, the city rapidly became an important political center when Clovis, king of the Franks, installed his capital in 508. This close and ancient connection with the history of France explains to a large extent the richness of the patrimony from the city. Today the most emblematic monuments of the capital date back to less than 200 years (the Eiffel Tower, the Sacred Heart), but as you walk through Paris, you will discover many traces of a sumptuous past.

You have understood : a "real" discovery of Paris would require many days, even many weeks. Depending on the length of your stay, you will have to make choices and carry on another trip visiting the many sites you will not have seen. During the first passage, some monuments are inevitable : the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame de Paris, the Sacré-Cœur, the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées. But also enjoy the quays of the Seine, the Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain des Prés and the Marais. On the museum side, let yourself be guided by your desires : you will necessarily find several places to meet your expectations, but, among the must-see at least the museum of the Louvre and that of Orsay.

In the evening, discover Paris by night after attending a theater, dance, concert or after a good meal. Because the French capital is also the capital of gastronomy with its many starred addresses, Art Deco brasseries, friendly little restaurants and all the cuisine of the world.
