On the border with the Nièvre, at the very south of the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, the small village of Cuzy is 35 kilometres west of Montceau-les-Mines and 40 minutes drive from Le Creusot. In the heart of the countryside, far, far away from any major tourist destination, the place will delight holidaymakers who love tranquillity and holidays off the beaten track. In terms of heritage, what to see in Cuzy? A tree, and then... That's about it ! Yes, but not just any tree, the largest chestnut tree in Burgundy, 4th in France, known for its 13 metres in circumference and its imposing branches which provide shade for those who wish to sit at its foot to read or picnic. If there is another visit to be made absolutely in Cuzy, it is undoubtedly that of its pond. Situated in the heart of the village, very close to the church, it is a privileged place for walkers who go there both to hike and to enjoy its wild and bucolic setting, as if straight out of a fairy tale in the early morning when the mist takes hold of its contours. It is also a renowned fishing spot, and will be the ideal place for a family lunch break by the water.

Particularly conducive to escape, Cuzy invites tirelessly to climb on a bike, put on good shoes, and go on an adventure through the thick vegetation that surrounds it. In the direction of the Grotte de Lourdes, the Grotte la Chambre du Bois, or the castles that line the region such as the Château de Lucenier in La Chapelle-au-Mans (18 kilometres away), the Château de la Montagne in Saint-Honoré-les-Bains (27 kilometres away), or the Château de La Roche in Larochemillay, it is a whole section of the Morvan and its fertile landscapes that you will discover. Sporty? Several peaks are worth a detour in the area, such as the summit of Mont Beuvray (near the Château de La Roche), Mont Dône just north of Cuzy, not forgetting the paths of the Chaumont woods to the east of the commune. A must to do: you can walk, cycle or drive to the Lac des Arrouettes in Toulon-sur-Arroux. Located less than twenty minutes further south of the village, it is the perfect place for a sporting day in the sun, with friends or family. Established on the edge of an old gravel pit of 30 hectares, this space is the ideal place for a fishing party, contemplative parentheses and more sportive sessions. Hiking along the Arroux River, mountain biking, excursions in the direction of Autun and its fortifications (40 kilometres to the north-east) or Paray-le-Monial and its Basilica of the Sacred Heart (45 kilometres further south) will complete your quiet stay in Cuzy!
