A small village in Provence, in the heart of the Pays de Fayence, Saint-Paul-en-Forêt is nestled in the centre of a large circus dominated by the last foothills of the Estérel and the Mont-Lachens. About thirty minutes from the beaches of the Gulf of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Saint-Paul-en-Forêt sees its origins go back a long, long way, as evidenced by dolmens (on the plateau of the Verrerie-Vieille) and traces of a Celto-Ligurian enclosure on its land. Its history can also be read through its old stones and its beautiful architecture. Here, old stone houses and small houses with pastel shutters decorated with colourful flowers give the village a very special charm. Built at the very beginning of the 18th century, the village church houses an ancient statue of Saint Paul, and dominates the town from the top of its bell tower. Pass by the fountain on the church square, discover the Pascaret wash-house, the Château du Queylard, the Château Grime, and climb to the top of the hill where the Saint-Joseph chapel is located, to discover the splendid panorama of the Pincounillier over the villages, the valleys and the surrounding mountains. You can also enjoy a walk along the banks of the Endre, which will take you tirelessly to the Lac du Rioutard. A vast expanse of water of 4 hectares nestled in the heart of a thick forest of fragrant pines and cork oaks, this lake is a particularly suitable place for resting, but also for hiking thanks to a wide network of marked trails, or for fishing. Pike, roach and other carp swim in abundance in the lake's full of fish, to the delight of amateur fishermen.
