In the south of the Vendée, near Les Sables d'Olonne and La Tranche-sur-Mer, Saint-Hilaire-la-Forêt welcomes you for a holiday full of serenity. 4 kilometres from the beaches, you will enjoy a rural setting that encourages you to stroll and discover.
Saint-Hilaire-la-Forêt, the smallest municipality in the Talmondais region, is a retro-littoral station that allows you to enjoy the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean while being in the heart of the Vendée countryside. While walking, you will appreciate the tranquility of the place and the charm of the village which is organized around the beautiful church with single nave. As you continue your walk, you will be impressed by the number of megaliths around the village. This is part of the famous "Carnac vendéen" and houses a museum, the Cairn, which offers you the opportunity to discover Prehistory in a different way, following a fun and educational route.
After this visit, walk or bike along the many paths that pass or revolve around Saint-Hilaire-la-Forêt. The Talmondais country offers no less than 20 hiking trails and more than 110 kilometres of cycle paths. These routes will allow you to visit the surrounding villages such as Le Bernard (12th century church, dolmen de la Frébouchère) or Avrillé (château de la Guignardière, king of the menhirs). Other paths will lead you to the coastal beaches at Jard-sur-Mer, Saint-Vincent-sur-Jard and Longeville-sur-Mer where you can relax on the fine sand and practice many nautical activities : sailing, sand yachting, surfing, paddle, bobyboard...
To extend these leisure activities, take advantage of the many parks and attractions located near Saint-Hilaire-la-Forêt : Indian Forest and O'Gliss Park at Bernard, Château des Aventuriers in Avrillé, Aquarium 7th Continent and Château in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire... A little further, also discover the Grand Parc du Puy du Fou, the Vieux Port de la Rochelle or embark, from La Tranche-sur-Mer, for an excursion to the islands of Aix and Ré and the famous Fort-Boyard. During these escapades, make a few gourmet stops to appreciate all the flavours of this beautiful land : oysters, mussels, ham and cognacs, Vendée brioche...
