At the gateway to Alsace, in the splendid Vosges mountains, Ventron is a resolutely friendly resort. Perched at an altitude of 640 metres, it offers a dream setting for a relaxing holiday in both summer and winter.
Far from the big ski resorts where it is sometimes difficult to find your way, Ventron and these destinations are perfect for quiet stays. Intimate and on a human scale, its ski resort located 4 kilometres from the heart of the village has all the assets to attract a rather family clientele. "Les Pistes de Ventron", that's its name (we also call it "Ermitage Saint-Joseph"), is perched at an altitude of 900 meters. A mid-mountain resort, it offers all the dynamism necessary for sports stays thanks to 10 kilometres of alpine ski slopes spread out between 900 and 1100 metres above sea level. In detail, this area is made up of three green, two blue, four red and one black runs. In addition to downhill skiing, Ermitage Saint-Joseph will offer its visitors the opportunity to discover cross-country skiing and many snowboarding disciplines, from snowboarding to surfing, including skicross to snowpark, sledging, freestyle skiing and snowshoeing. These are very popular with visitors, who do not fail to use its three trails to discover the beauty of the pristine landscapes that surround Ventron. The "La Futaie" trail (7.5 kilometres), the "Ronde Bruche" (4 kilometres) and the "Buttes" trail (1 kilometre) will allow you to enjoy beautiful snow-covered excursions. Note also that for even more walks, the Nordic domain of Ventron is connected to that of Bussang via the La Futaie trail.
In summer, Ventron and its valleys are a huge open-air playground for mountain bike fans: 3 circuits start in the town, each 4, 11 and 16 kilometres long. On foot, the Cascade du Cuisinier, the ferruginous spring, the Chaume du Grand Ventron (1204 metres above sea level), the Collet du Page and Collet passes, the paths along the Travexin stream, the Col des Écharges as well as those of Tchoure and Place du Bois will be perfect for beautiful walks to discover the most impressive views of Ventron. The municipality has a vast network of trails: more than 120 kilometres in all criss-cross its lands.
Finally, it would be a pity to stay in Ventron without seeing the magnificent Kruth-Wildenstein Lake: also located on the Alsatian side of the Vosges mountains, this artificial lake conquers lovers of swimming and preserved landscapes. Nestled in its green setting in the hollow of the mountains, this place is ideal for idleness and hiking. On foot, by bike or on horseback, walk around the lake on a 6-kilometre trail to discover all the faces of the lake! As for activities, you can opt for a game of archery or fishing, an introduction to diving, tree climbing, climbing or even a water ride on a pedal boat. Along the lake, Wildenstein Castle is worth a visit: nestled on its promontory and accessible by a tunnel dug right into the rock, it offers an unobstructed view of the lake below from its surrounding wall, perfect spot for immortalising a sunset.
