In the heart of the eponymous province, Florence is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Cradle of the Italian Renaissance, the city of the Medici dazzles by the richness of its heritage. While walking along its streets, admire the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and its majestic Duomo, the Basilicas of Santa Maria Novella and San Lorenzo and the Ponte Vecchio. Then visit the prodigious museums of the city : the Uffizi Gallery, the Bargello, the Academy Gallery, the Palazzo Vecchio which contain the masterpieces of the greatest names of the Renaissance : Giotto, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael, Caravaggio... If Florence offers a true concentrate of history and culture, many other cities of the province deserve to be visited. Discover for example the village of Vinci where the famous Leonardo was born. But also go to Sesto Fiorentino to admire the fabulous Etruscan tomb of the Montagnola, to Barberino di Mugello to see the Cattani castle and the Pretorio palace or to Empoli for the collegiate church of Sant'Andrea. You can also explore the beautiful landscapes of the Valdelsa where wooded hills, vineyards, olive groves, cypress paths and historic villages such as Castelfirentino, Montaione or Gambassi Terme.
To the south of Florence, another legendary region is one of the province's highlights : Chianti. With its vineyards, medieval villages and hilly landscapes, this wine-growing soil will delight lovers of hiking and good wines. In Greve in Chianti, one of the most beautiful villages in this rural territory, enjoy the triangular market square, the church of Santa Croce and, if you are visiting in September, attend the largest wine event dedicated to Chianti Classico.
