Then set off to discover the riches of Torrevieja. While strolling in the heart of the resort, you will appreciate the church of the Immaculate Conception, the monument dedicated to Mediterranean cultures and the one celebrating the Chorists. Then visit the city's unmissable site : the Torrevieja Natural Park and its salt marshes. Exploited since ancient times, the salt lagoons have contributed greatly to the development of the city and, even today, Torrevieja is one of the main salt exporters in Europe. Within the park, you can see many migratory or nesting birds (grey herons, storks, Audouin's gulls...) but also the superb pink lagoon whose colour is particularly impressive.
Another curiosity to see in Torrevieja are the two museum ships of the marina : the Albatros III, a former Customs patrol vessel, and the S-61 Delfin, a military submarine. But also take advantage of your stay in the resort to discover the surroundings. Go to Cuevas des Rodeo de Royales to admire its troglodytic houses, whitewashed with lime or covered with shells like the house of the Conchas. If you have time, make a trip to Cartagena for its beautiful Roman sites and to Alicante for its castle Santa Bárbara and its old town. Restaurants "Las Columnas", "Patio Chico", "Los Zamoranos", "El Pescador": so many good restaurants ranging from simple tapas to more sophisticated cuisine. Visits to Cartagena, Murcia, Lorca and of course Alicante and Elche are essential detours.

Not much to visit around here. A Friday morning market on Friday morning is very friendly and very big and worth the detour. We were able to manage our stay on foot and with the buses, the city is very well served.

Restaurant "La Boca": very warm welcome, delicious food and friendly waiter... very pleasant. And especially the "Restaurant Pizzería 222" where we had our aperitifs every day: the pizzeria, the ice-cream parlours and the great Helena waitress (especially since everyone went to great lengths to understand us).

Torrevieja is a city where life is good. Cartagena is a beautiful city with its Roman ruins. The Manga peninsula is superb: fine sandy beach and blue waters, finally the island of Tabarca is an absolute must see despite the world in high season: lovers of marine life will find their paradise.

We discovered the Torrevieja Natural Park (with pink salt lakes): history excursions and... if you lie down in the water, you will float like in the Red Sea. Very nice to visit, many shops nearby. Also worth discovering is the superb "222" open-air disco and the one in the port with its small cabins.

Quickly find a parking place to park, avoid taking the car often otherwise you won't find a place, several beach corners (see also the "pink beach"). In the evening: go to the fair (souvenir shops etc...).

The longest beach in Torrevieja welcomes you, bordered by a wooden bridge and palm trees... the perfect setting to combine swimming and walks.

Ideal for nature lovers: two lagoons in a 3700 hectare park await you between water paradise and pink flamingos.
