Empuriabrava : the name itself sounds like holidays. 40 kilometers away from the French-Spanish border, this Catalan city became one of the largest marinas in the bay of Roses. In this peaceful port, more than 5000 docking points receive the boats of wealthy celebrities. Despite his high-end status, the sunny resort welcomes everyone, regulars and new tourists alike.
Leading destination of the Costa Brava, Empuriabrava is often compared to Venice. The city certainly has something for everyone. Explore its countless canals on a rented boat for roughly ten euros. The villas are not unlike the over-the-top architecture of Miami's celebrity houses. A cosmopolitan atmosphere adds to the charm of the seaside resort. Located nearby, the National Park of Aiguamolls is a coastal wetland covering almost 5000 hectares. With its meadows, ponds, swamps and beaches, the park provides ideal conditions for its numerous species to live and reproduce peacefully. Mountainous fortifications surround Alt d'Empordà, which is administratively linked to Empuriabrava. Easily recognizable by its point shaped peak, the 1374 meters high Puig de Bassegoda is perfect for family hikes. Hikers will also find satisfaction on the Roc del Pou de Neu, a mountain split over France and Spain.
Sun seekers will rather enjoy discovering the 7 kilometers long seashore, composed of wide beaches like Can Cornes or La Rubina, one of the most famous wild beaches of the Costa Brava. As for the gourmets, they will appreciate the light vegetable and fish-based dishes along with other local delicacies such as stuffed apples.

Very pretty city with its canals, nice walks to do. Many things to do around, visits of Roses, Cadaqués, Pals, Figueres... very well located city at half an hour from the border.

For parking, the first 2 lines are free. There is almost always room. To visit the canals: rent a boat without a licence (2h=75€ for 5 people). You can do all the channels, which is not the case with electric boats.

The tapas of "Chez Tony" (recommended by the Tourist Office) are worth a visit. For meat lovers the restaurant "Pura Brasa" is to be made. It's a little expensive, but it's worth a visit.

Restaurant "Pollo pollo" towards the Rubina beach and the restaurant "Le Raco del mar". Near Rosace tapas restaurant "lalola taperia" at the top. The Lemontserrat supermarket has a very large fish stall. The only one to offer fish in Empuriabrava but with a very good quality/price/choice ratio.
