The city of Platja d'Aro (or Castell-Platja d'Aro) lies in the heart of the province of Girona, halfway between Barcelona and the French border. Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, this seaside resort on the Costa Brava is the ideal place for a relaxing break, far from the splendour of overcrowded tourist towns where it proves impossible to find a place to plant your parasol. Platja d'Aro has mild winters and very hot summers, making it an ideal holiday destination all year round. Lazing on the beach, hiking, water sports, relaxation or exhibitions, there is always something to do in Platja d'Aro.
The city is appreciated for the quality of its beaches and its superb coves: in all, about ten bathing areas along its rugged coastline. Although not the most idyllic because of the buildings along its pedestrian promenade, the central beach (Grande Plage) is appreciated for its many summer activities : scuba diving, sailing, playgrounds for the youngest, beach volleyball or swimming, here, more than 100,000 square metres of sand extend facing the Mediterranean. Also take a stroll along Sa Conca Beach : shady, lined with maritime pines and surrounded by rocks, it is ideal for relaxing in a more natural setting. During a stroll, take the round path along the coast and you will discover small sandy coves, nestled between the rocks. The most remote from the city centre is also the most beautiful of them : Cala del Pi. In a paradisiacal environment, this cove of fine sand surrounded by pine trees enjoys transparent water and a relaxing atmosphere : difficult to resist its charm, all the ingredients are gathered here to make holidaymakers dream. Further south, the Cala Sa Cova, the Cala Rovira and the very pretty Cala Rod will be ideal for those who are looking for a little calm under the Spanish sun. Even if most beaches are equipped with sunshades, don't forget your sun screen and glasses, the Costa Brava is famous for its long days bathed in a hot sun.
Platja d'Aro offers a multitude of sporting activities for the pleasure of summer holidaymakers : flyborad, towed buoy, diving, sailing, catamaran, jet ski, but you can also try your hand at parachuting, mountain biking or hiking. Platja d'Aro also has a mini golf course and a large golf course with sea view, with two courses of 9 and 18 holes.
Walk through the cobbled streets of Platja d'Aro, discover its beautifully flowered stone houses and walk to the viewpoint of Pinell Park, from where you will have an impressive view of the sea and port. Then head towards the medieval quarter of Castell d'Aro : the 11th century church of Santa Maria and the castle of Benedormiens, perched on a small hill, are well worth a visit.
A dynamic city, Platja d'Aro hosts artistic events, fairs and festivals throughout the year : the carnival, the Fête of the Bière, or the marché médiéval punctuate local life.
After all these discoveries, it's time to eat: your taste buds will surely come alive in front of the delicious gastronomy of the Girona region ! Your meals may even be your best holiday memories. Here, local products are legion, and Catalan cuisine is on every plate. Rice and seafood dishes such as "Mar I Muntanya" or paella, as well as cold meats such as "fuet catalan" reign supreme on the menus of restaurateurs.

Many activities on site: bowling, mini-golf, discos. Many bars and restaurants. Beautiful walks to do in the creeks and a magnificent beach. Water parks with activities. Playa de Aro is an ideal city for a good holiday.
