With 280 days of annual sunshine and a coastline of fine sand stretching over 10 kilometres, Port-La Nouvelle is an ideal destination to enjoy the Big Blue. The resort offers three beaches whose quality is rewarded by the Blue Flag label. The main beach, that of the Seafront, is equipped with 3 surveillance posts and offers many activities : beach volleyball, beach handball, beach tennis, beach soccer, kitesurf, paddle, diving, boat trip... The other two beaches, Montilles and La Vieille Nouvelle, are not supervised and, less frequented, are more conducive to idleness and relaxation facing the azure horizon of the Mediterranean.
After a few hours by the sea, let yourself be seduced by the authentic and warm charm of Port-La Nouvelle. On your way back from the beach, take the dike that leads to the foot of the lighthouse, the station's emblematic building. Then go up the avenue de la Mer to stroll along the quays of the fishing ports and marinas, then in the historic centre to admire the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Voyage church. Continue your visit to more remote sites such as the Old News Tower, built in 1742 to protect the coast, or the Whale Museum which, in the winery of a winery, presents the complete skeleton of a whale beached on the beachfront in 1989.
During your stay in Port-La Nouvelle, enjoy the fabulous natural heritage that surrounds the town. On foot or by bike, you can easily reach Saint Lucia Island, a fabulous natural reserve rocked by the song of cicadas, the smell of the scrubland and Aleppo pines. By mountain bike, go around the pond of Bages-Sigean by taking the path of the Ancient Gulf, loop of 75 kilometers. Discover also the Cathar path which leaves Port-La Nouvelle and leads to Foix passing by the most famous Cathar castles. Back from a stroll, treat yourself to one of the good restaurants of the resort to taste the local flavours : fish soup, seafood, eel bourride, honey, cheese...
