It is in the department of Hautes-Pyrénées, in the Occitan region, that the commune of Vielle-Aure is located. A little over twenty kilometres from the border with Spain, it enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, close to the famous ski resort of Saint-Lary-Soulan.

Surrounded by the Pic du Midi de Bigorre and the high mountains of the Massif du Néouvielle, Vielle-Aure sits in the heart of the mountains, spread out between 773 and 2730 metres above sea level. On the banks of the Neste d'Aure, this particularly authentic village divided into two parts amazes its holidaymakers with the beauty of its architecture. With its magnificent 17th and 18th century houses, it is one of those favourite destinations that holidaymakers are particularly fond of. To discover all its charms, take the time to visit it on foot or by bike. In the heart of the village, while strolling or following the itinerary of the playful Vieille-Aure trail, you will discover its old Romanesque listed church from the 12th century decorated with a three-column bell tower and high arrows from the 17th century, but also its Saint-Antoine chapel and the many streams that water the village.

If the eastern part of the village is more ideal for walks and small gourmet restaurants, the western exclave has in its north part of the Pla d'Adet ski area, and in its south part of the Nature Reserve of Néouvielle. From the resort of Saint-Lary-Soulan, three sectors await you. Saint-Lary 1700, "Pla d'Adet", is particularly popular with families. With its play area and its kidpark, it will be ideal for the little ones to discover skiing in all serenity. Saint-Lary 1900, "Espiaube", will delight experienced skiers as well as Saint-Lary 2400, which will delight fans of new glides and thrills thanks to its snowpark. Cross-country skiing, sledging, sleigh rides, snowboarding and fun games will complete the range of activities available in the resort. On the other side, dominated by the Pic du Pichaley (2626 metres), the Pic de Portarras (2697 metres), those of Le Contadé (2724 metres) and Aygues-Cluses (2620 metres), wetted by the lakes of Aubert, Aumar and l'Oule, the exclave of Vielle-Aure is particularly conducive to the practice of outdoor activities. From snow-covered passes in green valleys (Estoudou pass, Cabanou ridge, Terre Nère ravine, Soumaye ridge...), through the seasons and marked trails such as the GR10, Vielle-Aure makes its visitors succumb to the magnificence of its preserved landscapes. Its absolutely magnificent high altitude lakes will be the scene of many hikes in winter and summer, as well as photo spots adored by photographers, perfect for picnics in fine weather.

Finally, it is impossible to stay in Vielle-Aure without making a detour to the famous Pic du Midi de Bigorre. Perched at an altitude of 2876 metres, this place is known for its astronomical observatory and is a must in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Offering a spectacular panorama of the Pyrenean mountains, both from the 600 square metres of terraces at its summit and from its cable car, it will put stars in the eyes of young and old, winter and summer, day and night!
