Félines-Minervois is the ideal place to put your suitcases if you dream of holidays far from the world, the hustle and bustle and the hordes of holidaymakers. A small village 30 kilometres from Carcassonne, 40 kilometres from Narbonne and less than an hour from the beaches of the Mediterranean, this quiet little town, relatively unknown to tourists, has a lot to offer.

Félines-Minervois (also called Felina de Menerbés in Occitan) is a small town in the Hérault department, on the border of the Aude, nestling at the southern end of the Massif Central, on the southernmost slope of the Montagne Noire. Typical of the Minervois foothills, this hilly village sees its highest hills rise up to 900 metres, hills dotted with flowers and essences characteristic of the Mediterranean flora. The major asset of Félines-Minervois? Its calm. Situated relatively off the tourist trails, the town is not strictly speaking a popular destination for visitors... wrongly so, and that's why we love it so much! Rich of a very old history, Félines-Minervois sees the first traces of human occupation on its territory going back to the year 7000 BC, as attested by the excavations carried out in the Abeuradou cave. Numerous dolmens are also present on the wooded hills of the village, raised in the Neolithic period on the side of the plateau of La Planette. The 17th century church is worth visiting for its engraved slab, as is the old marble quarry, exploited for its "griotte red" stone deposits, a solid and prestigious stone that can be found in a whole host of Parisian monuments or in Versailles, no less! During your walks, whether on foot or by bicycle, the ruins of the Château de Ventajou or the mills will complete your exploration of the local architectural heritage. Our advice? Climb the "hill of the thirteen winds" to discover the old mill that dominates the whole village, a belvedere that will offer you a wonderful postcard of Félines-Minervois. The Ventajou orientation table is also a must to do: located right next to the ruins of the eponymous castle, it offers brave hikers a breathtaking view of the Corbières massif and the peaks of the Pyrenees, like the Pic de Bugarach, the Pic Madrès or the Pic du Canigou in the distance.

A few hiking routes will allow you to discover the contours of the village, especially those leading to the Camplong dam, the wine village of La Livinière, or towards Cassagnoles, on the Black Mountain path. The marvellous village of Minerve at the confluence of the Brian and the Cesse rivers is worth seeing, as are the famous cities of Carcassonne, the medieval fortified town (30 kilometres away), Narbonne, its port and its Mediterranean beaches which, less than an hour away, will allow you to bubble under the sun, swim, and perhaps discover a new passion for surfing, paddle, sailing or boating... For a perfect holiday in the south-west of France!
