Laroque-des-Albères is 10 minutes from the very popular seaside resort of Argelès-sur-mer. A typical Catalan village, nestled in the heart of the Eastern Pyrenees, Laroque-des-Albères enjoys an ideal location near the mountains, just a few kilometres from the most touristy seaside resorts in France and Spain, Portbou and Colera. So, whether you are fans of swimming and idleness or rather lovers of long walks through mountain ranges and forests, everyone will find his happiness during this rocky stay.
Nature coast, the city is located in a beautiful green setting, at the foot of the Albères massif. Hiking is undoubtedly the best way to appreciate the rich heritage and preserved environment of Laroque-des-Albères : you will find a myriad of signposted itineraries as well as cycle paths that will allow you to discover the dolmens, monuments, wells and the remains of history that line the town. With your family, why not try the "Deux Fontaines" hike ? Almost 11 kilometres long, it offers magnificent views over the region. Children can enjoy several playgrounds along the marked trails, as well as family picnic areas. We advise you to climb to the top of the village to admire a breathtaking panorama over the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean and the Roussillon. Experienced walkers will be able to try the Ullat Pass hike : for nearly 5 hours, this hike with an altitude difference of 800 meters through pines, massifs, ravines and the river is perfect to breathe the fresh air, facing a postcard landscape. The famous GR 10 trail also passes through the surroundings of the village : the most adventurous hikers can admire extraordinary views of the Pyrenees and the villages below from Pic Neulos. In summer, many activities are offered in the village of Laroque-des-Albères, including excursions on horseback or pony in the heart of the vineyards and pine forest : fun and original outings, to do with family or friends.
Built around the castle of Laroque of which only the Church of Saint Félix and the Tower of the XIIIth century remain today, the village of Laroque-des-Albères is a picturesque place, and marked by history. Its Catalan identity can be seen at first glance, thanks to its typical architecture, but also thanks to its tasty gastronomy. Benefiting from the mild Mediterranean climate, Laroque-des-Albères is the perfect place to grow and taste many fruits and vegetables, such as peaches, nectarines, olives, cherries, apricots and almonds. Many vineyards also flourish within the commune, for the happiness of oenophiles passing through the region.
Finally, as this perched village is only a quarter of an hour from the sea (Collioure, Argelès...), it will be easy for you to enjoy all the facilities of nearby seaside resorts: swimming, canyoning, scuba diving, windsurfing, water-jump, beach volleyball, golf, water skiing, fishing, windsurfing or surfing... You will not know what to start with as the activities are so varied !

Restaurant food truck "Ô Vagabond": homemade meal very welcome. Coastal trail to do from Le Racou, 1 hour to Collioure, visit Collioure and return by bus at 1 euro.

A word of advice: all the surrounding villages have their markets with local fruit and vegetable producers... nothing like what you can find in supermarkets.
