In the midst of the Alpine forests, the magical setting of the resort of La Plagne 1800 will seduce you : before the 1970s, this site of the Massif de La Vanoise was mainly dedicated to the mining of silver lead, but since their closure , the territory has undergone a genuine metamorphosis, and as soon as it was opened in 1982, the Plagne 1800 became known as an ultra modern tourist resort devoted mostly to winter sports, but with its small cozy cottages, an authentic Savoyard village.
As the name suggests, the village is located at an altitude of 1800 meters on the La Plagne ski area. On this immense territory, 425 kilometers of slopes delight skiers and snowboarders. An exceptional snowfall, training courses for all levels and all the sports of gliding... In short, an idyllic resort and ideally located in the French Alps. Since the Plagne 1800, you even have access to the Olympic bobsleigh track ! This site created for the Olympic Games in Albertville in 1992 is unique in France and has already hosted events of several World Cups of bobsleigh and skeleton (individual descent on a kind of luge). It is here that the Olympic athletes of sliding sports regularly come to train. This circuit of 19 bends is also open to the public : an activity not to be missed ! In addition to winter sports, activities are not lacking in this charming resort... especially for the more adventurous. Climbing, paragliding, zip lines, snowmobiling, mountain biking, dancing... Many sports are accessible to all, confirmed or beginners.
The tranquility that emanates from the landscapes is also conducive to relaxation... if possible in front of a good hot meal. The unmissable gourmet rendezvous of the Plagne 1800 is located in "La Cantine". This rustic and cozy restaurant becomes very trendy during the high season. It must be said that his delicious pizzas have allowed him to acquire an excellent reputation ! The generosity and sympathy of the young boss will make you want to comeback as soon as possible, if only to benefit from his excellent advice on the resort and its surroundings. To continue its evening in the festive atmosphere of a British pub, we will go to "La Mine". This authentic bar run by English bears its name well. Its atypical decor is the image of the old mines that punctuated the domain before the creation of the station. Enjoy a good deli or local cheeses around a drink. Live music, broadcast football matches, everything guarantees a friendly and lively atmosphere throughout the evening !
