On the shopping side, what Inca is also famous for is its market. The "Inca Market", that's its name, has been held every Thursday for hundreds of years now. The largest open-air market on the island of Mallorca, it is full of locally produced handicrafts, leather accessories, island flowers and delicious stalls filled with Mallorcan food. A visit to the Balearic Islands would not be perfect without a taste experience! On the menu? "Pa ambo li" (a local bread with olive oil, tomato, ham and cheese), seafood, tapas, "ensaimada" type pastries accompanied by a good "cafe con leche" or "caliente chocolate", "turrón", but also "sobrassada" on the salty side, "coca de patata", "sopa mallorquina", cheeses, cold cuts and other rice products such as paella will seduce your taste buds. In addition, Inca has a very large number of restaurants, signs that we invite you to push the door to extend this gustatory discovery that will surely delight the whole family.
So take the time to walk around downtown Inca, to discover the beauty of its historic heart. Along its colourful and flower-decorated narrow streets, and after a short walk along El Serral de ses Monges, you will discover the Iglesia Santa Maria la Mayor, the former Convent of Sant Domingo with its magnificent cloister, the Convent of Sant Fancesc and the beautiful Monastery of Sant Bartomeu perched at the top of Carrer des Monges. It is impossible to miss the Ermita de Santa Magdalena: a high place of pilgrimage perched at the top of the Puig de Santa Magdalena, this medieval oratory offers its visitors from its terrace a panoramic view of almost the entire island of Mallorca, from the Serra de Tramuntana to the bays of Pollença and Alcudia.
But what makes Inca so attractive to visitors, apart from its charm and off the beaten track and traditional tourist routes, is its proximity to the sea. Located about 30 minutes from the beaches of the Bay of Alcudia, Inca is perfectly situated to enjoy the joys of the sea without being crowded, especially in the summer months. In just a few minutes you can enjoy the beaches of Port d'Alcudia, Can Picafort or the famous Platja de Muro. Bathing, sunbathing, surfing, sailing, scuba diving, wakeboarding, kitesurfing, SUP, sea trips and paragliding will complete your stay in Inca.
